The burning stick came forth from the night, its fire dancing eerily atop the carved wood as it was laid to rest upon the funeral pyre. Flames danced up the polished ebony wood lighting up the night with sparkling embers and painted shadows. As the ghostly flames hovered over the body of our Princess, our Leader, our General, the stars shone bright above and the full moon gazed over at the gathering as if the whole galaxy-no, the whole universe had come to pay homage to the great warior Princess. There had been rumors going around about the rebellion splintering and falling....and the death of one of the greatest rebellion leaders handn't made things any better. Tonight those rumors were spreading like wildfire and you could see them in the quiet whisperes and hopless faces. As the night wore on one by one people recieted memories, qotes, and advice...and the rumors only got worse. They were suffocating, surrounding, consuming, and killing off hope with a single stroke. Poe had been named as a new leader day ago as testified by Leia's will, even though he had already assumed that position. Next to him sat Finn, his second and Rose by Finn's side, with Rey on Poe's other side. They watched Poe intently, they knew how he had been faring. He hardly ever slept and the bags under his eyes were constant proof. With the rebellion crumbling as he watched, it was all he could do to not give up hope. But now instead of sinking into grief for what had been lost, his anger only gathered inside of him. As another finished reciting a memory of her, Poe stood up. With fire and detrimination in his eyes he said defiantly
"You have lost hope...I don't blame you...But remember this...we are the only thing keeping the First Order from taking EVERYTHING. FROM SELLING OUR PEOPLE INTO SLAVERY, FROM KILLING OFF EVERYTHING WE LOVE, FROM TAKING OUR FREEDOM. Without hope..There is no rebellion...Without the Reblellion.... The First Order has won.
His voice grew deep and gave as he added
"And I for one would never stand for that". The fire cast shadows onto his face as a stunned silence hung over the gathering. Poe walked back to his seat and watched the flames flickering over one of the Rebellion's greatest leaders, and one of the Rebellion's greatest hopes.

Author's Note
Sorry this was so short. I believe that since we can't have Leia's death scene we should at least have a funeral.
Rest In Peace Carrie Fisher
