Chapter Ten

I walked into photo not knowing what just happened to me at lunch. Like normal Asher wasn't here yet but I was worried this time. He stormed out so mad! What if he did something stupid?

The class started to fill in and I heard whispers.

"Did you hear about Cade?" One girl said. "For some reason Asher was pissed at him. Something about this girl." My heart stopped.

"Oh yeah! Apparently it's the same girl that caused the break up between Melissa and Asher." Another said.

"Hold up I heard that the girl who broke them up was ..." a football player said. I slowly felt eyes on me but I never looked at them.

"Why would they care about the nobody?" A girl said.

"I don't know but Cade seems interested too."

"It's not hard to interest Cade. It's Asher who's the real challenge." I felt like I was going to pass out. What's going on?

"Okay class," Mrs. Ivory said getting everyone's attention. "We're going to start off by talking about why shadowing could make of break you photos. First-" Asher came in. He didn't look at any one but I saw him.

His usual happy green-blue eyes where filled with rage and hate. His hair was tasseled more the usual. I don't care about the difference but I do care about that cut on his lower lip. No one saw it but I did when he sat down next to me.

"Thank you for joining us Mr. Jayfire." Mrs. Ivory said. "Now as I was saying..." I zoned out at looked over to Asher.

"What happened?" I whispered. He didn't respond I tried getting his attention several times. He didn't move at all! I resorted to my final card in my hand. I pulled out my phone and started texting.

[Skyler will be represented by * and Asher will have •]

* What happened? And don't you dare ignore this text! *

I see him take out his phone and sigh.

• Nothing just pay attention •

* No! Don't tell me nothing! You have a cut on your lip! I saw it you can't say nothing happened! You stormed out angry and I don't even know why! If it was something about Cade asking me out I don't get it! I didn't even say yes to any of it! So you better tell me because I'm worried! *

I look over at him and he looks at me I waited for an explanation. He looked down at his phone and texted.

• I'm sorry if I worried you. I just don't like the idea of Cade flirting with you. You're my friend out side of all this and I don't like the idea of Cade being close to you that's all •

* I was going to say no anyways. Cade honestly scares me 😬 *

I hear Asher chuckle a little. He looked over to me and I smiled. I paid attention the rest of class and got my work done. When the bell rung I was trying to move quickly like I always do.

"ASHER!" Girls screamed and came up. Great I'm already trapped. I sit down again and wait. They were rambling to him and he didn't even get a word out. He looked over to me and I shrugged.

"Listen ladies," he says over them and they all go quiet. "I have to go." They all pout a little and Asher stopped them before they started to beg. "Let's go Skyler." Asher stood up and held out a hand for me.

   I looked at his hand curiously but took it anyways. He lead me out of the room and started walking with me hand and hand. I wasn't pulling my hand out of his hold strangely. Well, at least not till I saw all the people looking at us. Too much!

I pull out and look at Asher. "I'll met you at the car right?" I say and he looks down where are hands where but quickly looked up when he realized what happened.

"Right! See you there! Oh, and be very careful!" He says and leaves. Careful? Then I looked around I understood what he meant. Death glares, everywhere! I walked quickly till I saw Blaise. I slowed down and took a deep breath.

"Blaise!" I call out and catch up. He turns and sees me and drapes his arm around me.

"Hey girl!" He says. I push his arm off and smile to him. "So what happened?" He asked with the voice of a teenage girl.

    "Asher walked into class with a cut lip! And then once I had talked to him a little he started acting really weird!" I say.

    "That doesn't sound normal." He said. We walked the rest of the way and when we got to his street I waited and made my way over to the truck.

    "Hey Crazy Cat!" Asher said as I climbed in. I groan and get in the car.

    "Hello Asher!" I say not looking at him.

    "Hey my family's having a game night and I was wondering if you wanted to join us. But you should know they get super competitive. Monopoly is band from my house because my mother hates it so much!" He laughed. I smiled and thought about it a little bit.

    "When is it?"

    "Tomorrow, I'll pick you up if you need?"

    "Okay, I'll go. And a ride would be nice." I say and see him smile.

    "Okay! Great! Let me explain the family a little. My mom and dad, they're weirdos. My little sister Kelly. She loves people and could talk your ear off. She's 10 but she's already doing 8th grade math. I'm proud of her! And that's what I've got!" He said. I smile wide.

    "Tomorrow's Friday right?" I ask and he nods. "Okay, come at 6:00 if that sounds do able?"

    "Yeah, I'll see you then!" He said and we pulled up to the church building and I walk in and start my lesson for the day.

    My mind was on the thought of Asher for the rest of the day. Why did you care to invite me? It doesn't make sense! What does Jayfire want?
