Everything has a purpose, but not always an explicit purpose. You have to look.
But some purposes are supposed to be hidden, obscured from the rest of us. When you see everything people hide, you see the real purpose. And you don't like seeing it because it makes you angry.
You don't want there to be purpose, because senseless is easier to tolerate compassion for. Purpose makes empathy harder because you see the story leading up to the moment, justification for bad things. Seeing purpose is a curse, nothing else.
