A/N: This one's going to be a bit different. Up until this point. The POVs of Scott and Mitch have been alternating with each one-shot. (In case you haven't already noticed.) This one is going to have both of their POVs. If you like it, please lemme know. If you think I should just stick with alternating, lemme know. Thanks. Also, sorry if this one's a little long.
Scott's POV
"C'mon Scotty. You're just chicken." Mitch taunted me from the driver's seat of the pickup we borrowed from Avi.
"Mitch, I'm not chicken! It clearly says DO NOT ENTER!"
"All the more reason TO ENTER!"
Mitch and I were supposed to be on a calming ride through California's lesser known countryside. Or what was considered the countryside in California. We were driving past LAX, behind the huge sign Mitch had found a small hill, and a few beautiful looking trees. Unfortunetly the area was all blocked off by a huge DO NOT ENTER sign, which he thought we should just ignore.
"YOU'RE INSANE!" I yelled playfully. Part of me really wanted to trespass as much as he did. Think of all the fun we could have!
"Oh, Scott, you gotta learn to loosen up a bit." Mitch responds with a shake of his upper torso.
"So we're really going to do this?" I ask, suddenly having second thoughts. "What if we get caught?"
"It's simple." He says as if he's done this a million times before. "We pretend we don't speak english."
"Then what do we speak?"
"I dunno...make something up. Just make sure not to sound racist. It doesn't matter. Are you in or out?" I look over to him. He was dead serious about this.
"In." I say without a moment's hesitation. I watch him drive up to the sign, then watch it disappear in the rearview.
"Hallaluah!!!!" Mitch screams, rolling down the window. I laugh at how rediculous it makes him look. He suddenly pulls over next to the hill and pushes me to get out.
"We're going to watch the sunset." He said matter-of-factly. He walks over to the hill, sits down and pats the space next to him, gesturing me to sit. It was getting dark and the sky had turned a beautiful yellow-orange color.
"Wouldn't it be easier to sit on the tailgate?" I ask gesturing back to the truck.
"Nope!" He says without hesitation, patting the space next to him on the hill again.
I lower my head in defeat, and plop down next to him. Earning an exaggerated applause.
He throws himself down and stares up at the sky. I join him. The sun was just starting to set in the horizon and it looked absolutely beautiful. I looked over to Mitch, the setting sun illuminated his features perfectly and gave him a sort of angelic glow. His hazel eyes reflected its rays and I suddenly found myself totally infatuated.
I don't know if it was the addrelian of having just broken the law, or the setting sun, but I suddenly saw Mitch in a whole new light. Both literally and metaphorically. A sudden rush of emotion came over me as I had what felt like an epiphany. I was in love with Mitch. I loved Mitch.
Mitch's Pov
The sunset was so magnificent. I'm so glad I forced Scott into doing this with me, it was totally worth it. Wait, was he staring at me? Do I have something on my face that I don't know about?
"What?" I ask, slightly freaked out.
He shakes himself out of whatever state he was in. "Oh, nothing. It's just..." He looks away from me, sits up and stares out into the distance at the sun that has now completely set.
