Enjoy! The Arc of Wonder, an archipelago in the New World, 2 years from the war.
Narrator's POV"Oi, Jackal I'm bored, do ya wanna go to the bar?" Shouted a young man with inky black hair that had streaks of silver.
Triss turned her head to stare at Black, who had disturbed her sleep.
"He's training right now, so his answer is no." Triss bluntly said, her sapphire earrings clinking softly. She was reclining in a titanic tree that overlooked a beautiful reef.
Black flicked his head to return her stare then hissed in annoyance.
"Fine, cap'n. But I'm asking him tomorrow as well."
"Why don't you go ask Annie, since you love her and all? I'm sure she would love to!" Triss laughed, almost falling off the branch.
Whilst Triss was regaining her balance, Black was thoughtfully staring at the vivid reef.
"You know what Triss, I think I will. Thanks and seeya!" Black said as he excitedly ran off to find Annie.
Triss shook her head, smiling at her crewmate. Sadly, what he didn't know was that Annie had left to go to an island that was a 2 day trip away. Poor Black, it seemed fate would forever be against him.
Triss shrugged and dropped down from the tree, the leaves crackling underneath her leather boots. Her hair wisped around her head, catching the different rays of fading sunshine.
Above Triss's head, the first stars were beginning to glimmer gently.
She looked carefully over the reef, looking for any signs of decay. Thankfully, there was none.
Satisfied with the condition of the reef, Triss began the 30 minute walk back to the Jeweled Dragon's hideout, at the center of the island in a hollowed out mountain.
Whilst she was walking, dark rain clouds began to gather in the night sky, drowning out the stars. A cold breeze had started to pick up, sending shivers down Triss' spine.
"Dammit." Triss mumbled as the rain began to fall. She quickly scanned the area for a tree she could shelter under, mentally sighing in relief when she saw a grand tree that had sprawling roots and a thick canopy of leaves.Triss hurriedly plopped down beneath the tree and laid her head against the trunk. She had started to shiver, her teeth clicking together.
Pulling her thin black tank top closer around her athletic body, Triss closed her eyes.Jackal's POV
2 hours earlierI sent the already damaged tree flying with a punch that I boosted with my explosive power. I grinned in satisfaction as the tree slammed against the cliff face, breaking into shards of wood.
After I had trained for around an hour more (how should I know? I'm bad with time.) I gave up and decided to go out on a short stroll, hopefully I would find Triss. I smiled warmly at the thought of her energetic grin.
I loved her so, so much that if anyone dared to harm her, well, lets just say they wouldn't be getting away from me unscathed. I would even die for her.
I started to walk away from the burnt clearing, the scent of singed wood filling my nose.
The further I went from the clearing, the more I realised that there was the heavy smell of rain in the air.
"I should probably get back as soon as possible." I muttered. Just when I had said that, the rain began to pour relentlessly on the island, making me growl in annoyance. As I approached a massive tree that was known to grow 2 different kinds of fruit, I saw someone lying down in between 2 of the roots. I gasped in surprise when I realised that it was Triss.
Crouching down next to her, I placed my hand on her shoulder and tried to shake her awake.
"Who's there?" Triss mumbled tiredly, rubbing her eyes.
"It's me, Jackal." I whispered into her ear.
"Why don't you sit with me whilst we wait for the storm to go away?" Triss whispered back.
"Alright." I said happily, lying down next to her.
She smiled softly and rested her beautiful head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her closer. I kissed her gently on her forehead as I stroked her soft hair.
I laid my head on top of hers and closed my eyes, listening to the angelic beat of her heart.
