Shownu's POV
"You can arrest me anytime officer," the drunk elderly lady screamed as I escorted her to the back of the police car.
Today was just like any other day. My shift was about to be over, and I heard over the radio that there was a public intoxication call at a local bar involving a drunk woman. I was only about a block away, so I decided to take the call. When I pulled up, officer Johnson was already on the scene chasing the elderly lady around the parking lot. Apparently she got drunk and tried to fight the owner when they decided to cut her off. Unfortunately for me, she liked what she saw.
"What's your name sweetie?" She loudly asked as soon as I caught up to her and put her in handcuffs.
"It's officer Son," I told her.
"Son? Well I can be your mommy tonight," she slurred as I walked her over to Johnson's car.
"Uhhh...No thanks," I said. I honestly didn't know how to reply to that. It didn't matter anyway since she was being taken to jail overnight to hopefully sober up. She probably wouldn't even remember anything in the morning.
As I was closing the door of the squad car, she quickly yelled, "Wait, I need your number!"
"It's 911," I said as I shut the door.
Thankfully officer Johnson was taking her to jail to be processed because I was exhausted.
When I got home, I took a long much-needed shower. After, I walked over to my kitchen to see what I could eat. I didn't want to cook, so I sat on the couch and ate the last few slices of leftover pizza I ordered yesterday. The sad meal left me unsatisfied, and I pretty much felt that way about everything else in my life right now.
These days, I hated coming home to my empty apartment. In the past, I enjoyed the bachelor lifestyle because I didn't have to answer to anyone but now I just wanted to settle down with someone. I suddenly got caught up thinking about her soft brown skin and full lips. I cursed my mind because I knew that I shouldn't even be thinking of her. She already had a lot going on right now.
I quickly thought of another option. It was last minute, but Yume wouldn't say no. I got out my phone and scrolled down to her name in my contact list.
I hit the call button and listened to the ringing sound as I waited for her to pick up.
After a few rings, I was suddenly hit with a bad feeling in my gut and I quickly hung up. Yume was my ex for a reason, and nothing good could come out of this. This phone call would only encourage her to continue on with the clingy, over-obsessed behavior that made me breakup with her in the first place.
I'm glad I came to my senses before she picked up. It was only 8:30, but I decided to go to bed early because I needed to catch up on sleep anyway.
