Evette's POV
Two months later~
I was working on a Winter Wonderland themed wedding for a couple, Tom and Sarah, that wanted to get married on Christmas Eve. We had the venue picked out, and today I was going around with them to pick out the food, cake, and floral arrangements.
"I like the light blue flowers, it will go with the decorations we picked," Sarah said.
"You got to choose everything else! What am I going to pick?" Tom screamed.
Here we go again. I looked over at my assistant Ally and we both rolled our eyes. Sarah and her husband were arguing over every single detail of the wedding so far. It didn't even seem like they liked each other.
"You know you guys don't have to pick everything today. You can think about it and we'll come back to it later," I suggested. I was tired of hearing them scream at each other and I was starting to get a headache.
"I think we'll do that," Sarah said.
"See, there you go choosing again!" Tom started shouting again.
Ugh, I'm so over this.
"Okay, well give me a call and we'll set something up," I told them. I said goodbye to them and Ally and left the flower shop.
I admit I was kind of eager to leave because I had something planned tonight. Shownu has been coming over a lot lately to keep watch over my house, and I liked cooking for him to thank him for being there for me and helping me out. Ever since he has been coming by for the last two months, I haven't had any problems and I felt safe.
From him being by so often I knew that he had been feeling homesick lately. I could sometimes hear him speaking Korean on the phone and I knew he was talking to his parents, so I wanted to make him a big meal with some Korean dishes and things that he used to eat a lot back home.
I spent time googling some dishes he might want and I asked Wonho for help since they were best friends and he knew what Shownu liked. I made a list of what I needed before I left for work this morning, and I was on my way to the Korean market so I could make the food as authentic as possible with actual Korean products.
I quickly picked up everything I needed, then I rushed home so I could start. I had just a few hours before Shownu was supposed to come over tonight, so as soon as I got home, I took a quick shower and changed out of my work clothes before I started cooking. I was pretty clueless when it came to making Korean food because I had never cooked any before, so I put on YouTube tutorials and had my laptop on the kitchen counter while I was cooking so I could follow each step.
I was just finishing up when I heard the doorbell ring at 8 p.m.
Perfect timing.
I went over to open the door and saw that Shownu had changed out of his uniform already and was dressed casually in a red shirt with a black jacket over it and some jeans. When he walked in, he started sniffing the air and said, "Mmm something smells good."
"Thanks, I made dinner for us. You can go sit down, I'll bring everything out."
"Everything? What did you make?" He questioned as he walked past the pots on the stove and tried to take a peek.
"No peeking, you'll have to wait and see," I told him.
He went to sit at the table and I plated everything up.
I made A Korean-Chinese dish called jjajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce), kimchi-jjigae (kimchi stew), Tteokbokki (spicy stir fried rice cakes), and Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly). When I took everything over to the table he said, "Oh wow. Did you really make all this?"
"Yes, I know it probably won't taste the best, but I wanted to make you something to remind you of home since I know you miss being there," I replied.
"You really didn't have to make all this. Seriously."
"I wanted to. Now eat up before it all gets cold," I said.
When he took the first bite I waited for his reaction.
"Woah, this is really good. Stop playing, you ordered this from a restaurant didn't you?" He said as he continued to eat.
"No, is it really that good?" I asked. I tried a bite myself, and it was good, especially for my first try.
After he cleaned his first plate, Shownu went for seconds and I was glad that he was enjoying the food. It was nice to have someone to appreciate my cooking because it's been a long time since I've cooked for someone who was actually there to eat it.
After we finished eating, Shownu leaned back in his chair and said, "I'm so full. Thanks for making all this food for me."
"It was no big deal," I said as I took my plate to the sink and started to clean up.
He got up to start helping me clean and said, "Really, you're amazing. Anyone would be dumb to let you go."
"Thanks," I muttered as I felt my cheeks get hot. Damn, he must have really liked the food, I thought as I started rinsing the dishes I had washed.
When we finished cleaning up, we went over to the couch to watch tv. He took the remote and flipped through the channels as I sat back on the couch. My eyelids started to get droopy and the exhaustion from my long day had finally caught up to me. I wanted to stay up, but my eyes were struggling to stay open and I could feel myself falling asleep.
———
I woke up feeling extremely warm. I felt something hard beneath my cheek and I could hear a low rumbling sound. I opened my eyes and realized that I was in Shownu's arms. We must have both been tired while watching tv and I ended up falling asleep on his chest somehow.I slowly got up from his arms and I immediately missed the warmth of his body heat. It was nice being in his arms, but I couldn't get too comfortable and catch feelings. I'm still going through a divorce and I didn't want to walk into another relationship when I wasn't done with one yet.
I went to my room, got out a blanket, and walked back out to the living room. I covered him up and turned off the tv that was playing in the background, filling the room in darkness. I went to my room and crawled into my own bed to sleep alone.
