"Dangit!" I yelled in desperation. I pushed my keyboard away from me, accepting defeat.

I had been in front of the computer for about an hour trying to beat the last level in the impossible game.

It was almost...well, 'impossible.' I was beginning to get anxious again like I had done roughly 30 minutes ago. I needed to beat this level, but as soon as I was about to start again, my mom yelled from downstairs, "Kendra!"

I immediately stood up and rushed downstairs. I hadn't liked the way she just screamed out my name.

My mom was standing at the foot of the stairs. She looked pretty calm, but I still didn't let my guard down.

"Your father is calling you," she responded, "and he's waiting for you in his lab."

There were two odd things about what she had just said. One, my father rarely talks to me because he's too busy in his lab, and two, he doesn't let anyone in his lab, not even my own mother.

I walked to the door of his lab. It was closed, as usual. I honestly didn't know what to expect.

I stood in front of that door for a while, pondering whether I should open the door, or knock.

Disregarding the nervousness inside of me, I reached for the doorknob, but as soon as I was about to turn it, the door opened.

A breeze of cold wind escaped the room, making me shiver.

My dad was standing in front of me, and he had a big smile on his face.

Seeing that smile gave me a little more of comfort. I at least knew that whatever he wanted to speak to me wasn't bad.

We both sat down in the middle of his lab. I discreetly looked around from the corners of my eyes. I was shocked by the amount of projects that my father is working on.

I noticed a figure that had caught my attention. This time, I turned my whole head to get a good look at it. It was a some kind of robot. There was a sign infront of the robots foot that read "Prototype.  Robot B: Lenny."

I kept on looking around, trying to find anything else that would seem interesting.

My eyes wondered about, and a giant steel door made me take a second look at it. There was was a sign on it that read "NO TRESPASSING" under that, it read in small letters, "Project still under development."

My curiosity immediately sparked, and i started to wonder what was in there. "A plan to save the world? A secret project? Does he have someone in there?" Where all the thoughts that where going threw my head.

"You're not going to stay here for long." My dad spoke, interrupting my thoughts, "I only brought you here so I could talk to you about something, and i wanted to do it in here."

Sadness washed over me. I really wanted to see more of what he had, and i especially wanted to know what was behind that door.

"I wanted to tell you that your mother and I are going out of town for about a month." he continued, interrupting my thoughts once again, "We are going on a business trip, and we are going to leave you here."

I looked at him confused, "Why is it that I can't come with you guys?"

"Because," he started, "You'll just be slowing us down a bit, but look at the brightside, you'll have the whole house to yourself for a whole month."

I was heartbroken by his choice of words. Of course I was excited that I would be left alone for the first time, but a small piece of me really wanted to go with them.

"We will be leaving tomorrow morning," my dad continued, "I just want you to stay away from my lab. I wanted to talk to you in here so I could show you what would happen if you ever step into my lab."

He stood up, and he walked to the right side of his lab. I stayed sitting down, keeping an eye on him.

He had made his way infront of some kind of machine. He started pressing a few buttons and spoke out loud, "A.I. Jorge. Set up document '68J9LAR.' "

The whole lab shook as pieces of the floor near the entrance began to disappear, pipes began to resemble themselves in a certain postion, and finally the floor began to rise again, covering whatever just had happened.

The floor near the entrance looked just as it did before my father spoke the command.

I turned to my father, and I stared at him. "What just happened?" I asked him.

"Just look at the floor again." He told me, as he picked up a ball from his desk.

I turned to look at the floor that had just opened and closed after doing whatever it did.

I saw my father, from the corner of my eye, throw the ball he had just picked up into the piece of the floor that I was staring. The floor began to rumble, and it opened up. The ball fell threw the now opened floor, and it disappeared into the darkness.

I turned to look at my father with a look of horror. I couldn't believe what my father just showed me. He was willing to send me to a bottomless pit to my doom so I wouldn't go into his lab.

My dad simply chuckled. "Calm down," he spoke with serenity, "It went to your room on top of your bed."

He pointed at a monitor hanging in a corner, and it portrayed a room that looked awfully familiar. It was then that I noticed that it was my room.

I didn't know what was more freaky. Either the fact that my father has a route that leads to my room, or the fact that he has my room being monitored.

"Don't worry about it. I never saw you change or anything like that. I never even look at the monitor." My father told me as if reading my mind.

"Ok." I stated simply.

"OK!" My father spoke in a more powerful voice, "Let's get out of here and do something before me and your mother leave tomorrow.i wouldn't want to leave you without doing anything fun."

I immediately began to feel excited. It was one of the first times my father actually does something for me, game related. In fact, it probably is the first time he is going to do something fun with me.

Even before I was born, my father has been working on this "important" project of his, or so I heard from my father and mother once when they had an argument.

I never found out what it was, or if he even finished it. He probably hasn't since he still spends most of his time inside this lab.

I don't care though. I don't care whether he finished this project or not. I only cared about now.

I still felt something wrong with what is going on. I can't put my finger on it, but I just went with the flow. I followed my dad outside the door, and we went outside to play a game of football.
