I was standing in my front porch, watching my parents leave on there 2020 Mercedes.
Watching them leave broke my heart a bit, but a realization washed upon me. "I'm home alone." I thought to myself.
I was excited because it was the first time they ever left me alone.
At first I didn't know what to do, but I then decided to invite my friends over.
I called every person on my contacts that I always talk to, but they all declined the invitation.
They told me that my house is just too far away in the woods, and there parents wouldn't allow them to go.
I figured they would say that, but I still wanted to give it a shot.
I started to walk to the stairs to go up to my room. I was getting really bored, so I decided on playing a few more rounds of the impossible game.
I walked past my father's door that led to his labatory. Immediately my father's words echoed through my head, "I just want you to stay away from my lab."
I knew what would happen to me if I went in there. He even showed me a demonstration using the rubber ball from his desk. I would just end up in the Ned of my room.
"Might as well try." I told myself, "I'm going to end up in my room either way.
I reached for the doorknob, and I twisted it, opening the door.
Everything looked normal, but I knew it was booby trapped.
I made a quick sprint, jumping over the gap I knew was booby trapped.
I had made it to the center of my father's lab, and i smirked. "Is that all the defense line you had?" I asked no one but the air.
As soon as those words left my mouth, all of my dad's projects shot upwards, hiding into the open ceiling, closing it off.
Immediately the lab began to shake after the last of my dad's projects hid in the ceiling, and ALL of the floor from the lab began to fall away.
"He didn't tell me the whole lab was going to do this." I screamed at yet again at the air.
I fell into the opening, and i began to slide on the surface that I was now on.
I went into a fetal postion, and I screamed all the way down with my eyes tightly shut.
After a while, I started to feel different, like as if I weren't falling anymore.
I stopped screaming, and I opened my eyes slowly. I noticed that I was already in my room, and that I wasn't falling anymore.
I began to facepalm myself.
"How long was I already in here?" I asked, feeling a bit embarrassed of myself.
I stood up from my bed, and I walked back to my father's lab.
I stood in front of the door that led inside to his lab. I stood there for a while, and I finally reached towards the doorknob and shut the door closed.
"I still have about a month to go no?" I asked myself, "I could still try other days, but for right now i still want to beat that impossible game."
I began to walk up the stairs and up into my room. I closed the door behind me, and locked it.
~-DEREK'S POV (THE FATHER)-~
"Do you think we should go back?" asked my wife that seemed really nervous.
"Don't worry about the girl," I replied back to her, "She's 16. She can take care of herself."
"You know what I mean. That machine you have in your lab, what if she gets curious and decides to us it?" She sounded even more concerned.
"Oh your worried about that," I told her, understanding her concern, "It's ok. I Put A self-defense system. She couldn't even get in if she tried."
"But you don't know her Derek. She'a really good with puzzles and challenges. That's why she spends so much time playing video games. If you would've spend more time with us, maybe you would've known that." Betty, my wife, spoke, her anger rising.
I sighed, "I know, and I regret not doing so. I just wanted to finish that time machine and that merging machine. I even think o finished it! The merging machine may still have a few problems, but it still I s fully operable."
"So it works!?" Betty said with wide eyes, "And you left it with our daughter!?"
"Calm down, calm down. She can't get in remember?" I tried to reassure her.
"I guess." she sighed, relieving her anger.
"Let's-let's just get to where we have to be." I told her.
"Good job. She doesn't suspect a thing!" I told myself in my head, "She has a whole month in that house, I know eventually she'll end up cracking that puzzle. She better know what to do. I want to know if it works 100% and it doesn't have any problems with its program."
"You're insane!" The other side of my brain began to speak. "You can't use your own daughter as a lab rat testing your projects for you!"
"Of course I can!" I said grinning imaginally. "Don't you see I'm already doing it!?"
"You're nuts." My 'logical' side of my brain finished, finally going silent again.
"Finally" I said, this time out loud.
"I'm sorry?" My Betty asked sounding confused.
"Uh, nothing. Sorry, I was talking to myself again." I reassured her.
"Ok.. if you say so."
The rest of the ride was silent, and nothing was said.
