It was a dreary and rainy Friday night which Barry was pleased was almost over. All he had to do was drag his stressed, exhausted body up the stairwell to his apartment and straight to his lonely bed. It had been a long day at work and his only desire at this moment was to sleep and to sleep for a very long time.

Finally, he made it to his door, already half asleep and grabbing his keys from his pocket, quickly opening the door and heading to bed. But as he entered his bedroom a loud thump coming directly above him filled the room. Then another, then another. Music, very loud music.

He barely knew the girl living there. He knew her name and little else. Caitlin Snow. Oh, there was another thing that he knew about her, her boyfriend, Jay Garrick was a right piece of work. Often he would be forced to listen to their rather heated arguments about this and that. Mostly because he was a lowlife and although Barry didn't really know Caitlin, he knew that she could probably do better than him. Anybody could do better than him.

Barry normally knew better than to go to her apartment if something loud was going on above him mostly because he didn't want to get punched in the face but right now all he wanted was a good night's sleep and had no patience so he stormed out of the door and up to the next floor.

However, when he got up the stairs, he found her door wide open. Confusion arose but so did some concern. Perhaps something had happened to her, what kind of person or neighbour would he be if he didn't check on her? As he edged closer to the door the music started to sound more like sappy love songs and the like. He followed the soon until he began to hear deep sobbing that was being somewhat drowned out by the loud music. Caitlin's sobbing.

The music led all the way to her bedroom and there he found her, lying flat on her bed on her stomach, crying her heart out into the pillows and sheets, clearly distraught. She hadn't noticed his presence or heard him enter so he stood, not knowing quite what to say. He wanted to give her some form of comfort and find out what was wrong but he barely knew her. It felt a little inappropriate of him but he couldn't exactly leave her in this state. Leaving her won't get him to sleep any quicker either.

Sleeping, that was his whole reason for coming here. He was a little angry before but after seeing her like this... well, she already seems upset enough, she doesn't need him yelling at her and just adding to her misery.

"Hey, Miss Snow, are you alright?" he asked awkwardly, gently knocking on the wooden door frame that he was standing in.

"Oh! Mr Allen, I'm sorry. It's the music, isn't it? I'll turn it down and you can get some sleep," she sniffled, trying to stop her sobs as she looked up and turned to see her neighbour in her bedroom doorway. But she couldn't help but feel embarrassed that he had found her... like this.

"Well, I did come up here about the music but I think that's the last of my worries right now. I know we don't really know each other that well but what's wrong? You are clearly very upset about something," he asked gently, slowly walking towards her bed and sitting on the edge of it beside her with a smile, showing his support.

Barry was already pretty sure what was causing her so much sadness. Her scummy boyfriend. But he knew it was impolite to assume and didn't want to offend her. But between the sappy, sad love songs on full blast and the movie crying along with a box of chocolates that theory seemed to be well supported.

"It's Jay... he cheated on me... again. I mean, this isn't an uncommon occurrence but this time he said things would be different and that we could have a fresh start and this time it would all work out and of course I believed him, I always believe him. But this time I'm leaving him for good, I can't let him walk all over me anymore. I just need to find a guy whos nice and kind and who actually cares about me," she began to sob once again, burying her face into her sheets.
