I realise he needs an name, so I delicately picked him up, supporting his head and look him in the eyes. "Hello . . . Hicter." I say.
After signing the birth certificate, I put him in a carrier (the nurse had to find me one) and walked to the front again.
"Hello," I open nervously "I'm here to sign out. Collette Cuchara and Hicter Anthony." The man at the desk nods and waves me off. "Have a nice day sir." He says.
I walk to my Land Rover Discovery (My smaller of the two cars I own) and open the back left door. I didn't want to put Hicter in the front, because it's unsafe, but I wanted to be able to reach him if I stopped and he was crying. I then got in the driver's seat and drove off home.
To my surprise Hicter slept, the whole way home, and when I stopped the car engine and took the carrier out, Hicter just stared up at me with cute green eyes.
By the time I got in, I realised that I needed a cot and eventually Hicter will need food, so I called the only person I could think of, and who knows how to look after a child. I called my mum.
"Heello?" The voice said. "Who is this?" It asked. I inhaled deeply and spoke after a pause, "Hi Maddison. It's Jacob your son." The voice paused again, and I spoke up "Please, before you hang up, I need to ask you a question. You raised me and my siblings well, how do you raise a newborn?"
"You got pregnant!" She shouted at me. She didn't even give me a chance to explain. "No Maddison, it was my friend, Collette's, but she kinda, walked out on the little guy, and left him with me. Look" I said, sounding a little defeated "I didn't call you so we can mend our relationship, you made it pretty clear that you didn't want to see me again, I called you because you are the only one I know of who can tell me how to raise this child. Please can you help me? For Hicter?"
The line went dead, and I was about to hang up when I hear "Meet me down the high street in 20 minutes." Before she hangs up.
