Xander's POV

I was 6 years old when my mother died. Even though it was over 12 years ago, I remember every single detail as if it was yesterday. It started out as an average snowing Sunday morning. I was woken up to the sound of my father yelling and my mom trying to scream above his voice. They have been arguing for about 2 weeks straight and there's still no solution to my father cheating with his secretary. I mean, yeah, they could've simply got a divorce but they probably thought it would've had some effect on me.

Later that day, mom decided that we should go out for dinner instead of cooking. So we did. We went to a basic restaurant that's open til' midnight and served beef, seafood salads, you know, the usual. We got in a booth, with my mom and I sitting on the same side but me and my dad facing each other. This was one of the worst "family dinner" I've ever had. It's like they couldn't stand the sight of each other.

After we left the restaurant about 12-15 minutes back home, the argument where my mother thought my father was cheating was brought up again. "I have to work late tomorrow." My father said coming upon a stoplight. "Like you always do." My mother mumbled underneath her breath.

"Do you have something you want to say to me Marilynn?" My father turned his head toward her as I looked up from my tablet.

"As a matter of fact I do." She took her seatbelt off turning her full body towards him. "I know you're cheating on me with her." She continued. "We had this conversation already. We've been married for 11 years and I swear on the life of my child I had never cheated on you once." He said, turning his attention back to the road.

"How do you explain the hickies?" She asked. "You gave me those." He hit the steering wheel in anger. "The red lipstick on your shirt?" She asked again. "Those were yours.." He got cut off by my mother again. "The blonde hair on your coat. The phone number in your jacket pocket. The text messages on your phone." She continued.

"Give me a break Marilynn. Please." He says watching the lights turn green and pulls off into the street not noticing the truck speeding towards us from the other angle of the four way.

   "I would if you weren't a ch-."

"BOOM!" The red and white U-Haul truck crashes into our blue minivan cutting my mother off. My father hit the steering wheel with his seatbelt holding him back a bit And my mother flew head first through the windshield.

The seatbelt hit against my chest pulling me back against the seat but the impact of the crash caused my head to hit against the window knocking me out.

                                        ~

Waking up in the hospital with a pounding headache, the machines beeping and chattering above me. "Marilynn Levy, February 7, 1968 - August 27, 2005." I heard a male voice above me say. I couldn't see, the light from the ceiling was shining too bright in my eyes blocking the doctor's face. "Died in a car accident leaving 2 remaining survivors . 6 year old, Alexander Levy and 40 year old Marcus Levy." He continued.

"Doctor Wilson, 7 year old Camilla Powers and her father, Cameron Powers also died in this car accident. We couldn't have done anything to save them, they've lost way too much blood." A female voice randomly appeared.

"He's up." The male doctor who was standing above me with a notepad said to the other doctors in the room. "Where's my mommy?" I said barely above a whisper. My throats dry and it feels there's a rip down my windpipe. "Xander your mommy was very sick. But we can take you to your daddy as soon as you feel better. Okay?" The doctor squeezes my hand a little. "No, I want my mommy." l whine. The doctor looks towards the nurse and they both look down at me.

"Look baby," The nurse walks towards me. "Everything's gonna be okay. Your daddy is coming to get you. But for now, I promise we're going to take really good care of you. Now wait right here let me go get you some food and something to drink." She says as if I had a choice but I nodded acknowledging that I understood as she walked away.

My father later rushed in the room with his eyes red and puffy signaling that he had been crying, and an old bandage on his forehead, blood streaming down his face and white T-Shirt with blood stains all over it. "Hey, X." He comes up to me wiping blood off my face. "Hi daddy, where's mommy?"

"Mommy didn't make it. The doctors couldn't help her anymore so we had to let her go." He says placing his hand on my chest and a tear falling down his left cheek.

"She's dead?" My 6 year old voice cracked. My heart started pounding, my chest rose and fell rapidly and it suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe.

"I'm sorry, Xander." My father started crying.
