There weren't windows on the jet, for the whole thing was clear so anyone with NeuroLink glasses could set a scene for themselves. I didn't dare put mine on. I just wanted something to feel real, because nothing did anymore.

It probably never would again.

"This is your captain speaking. Please ensure all cellular devices are turned on airplane mode or cut off and your seatbelt is secure. Relax and enjoy the flight."

Relaxing wasn't on my agenda.

How could I? Jayce had me all tied up, I was meeting with some man I had only had two phone calls from, my boyfriend was dead, and for whatever reason I kept waking up in horrible pain and random places.

Who could relax? Not me. I couldn't. This plane ride would only serve as an hour and a half of peace and quiet, but I wanted noise.

I didn't want time to think. I just wanted to get this over with so I could move on.

Or die. Whichever came first.

The only things I had brought on the plane with me were my phones. One used to be Lafayette's, but seeing as how he didn't have anyone to give his things to, nor did he write up a will, it was mine now. I set them both to airplane mode, then tried another passcode to unlock his. Who knew four numbers could be so irritating?

Finally. 0630.

Who would set their alarm time as their passcode?

Laf would.

It felt a little like intruding to go through it, but he was dead, so what could he care?
