"Well? Aren't you coming in?" the man asked.

"Uh... Yeah, sure... Tell me your name first."

"Ray." He opened the door, and the second we were inside, the door slammed behind us. I couldn't help but jump.

And then I jumped again. There wasn't any furniture in the living room other than a couch and a fridge. Everything else was just tables. Some were empty, others had boxes stacked up, others had papers and file folders scattered on them. I didn't know why that was so unnerving, but I still wanted to leave.

There were only two rooms in the whole building, and no windows. He led the tour in silence.

"Now that you've seen this, feel free to look around. Okay?"

"Why won't you just tell me what you know?"

"It's better if you discover it by yourself."

I bit my lip hard enough to taste blood. Did I want to figure it out here? Or did I want to run for the hills and just find out from someone else?
