it was the beginning of winter. you know, the time when you could still see the remains of fall, but were easing into the months where it was cold everyday. he walked on the sidewalk, bundled up, (thankfully) in a black hoodie, blue jeans, and a black waistcoat. he shoved his hands into the deep pockets of his coat and looked down at the sidewalk so the cold wouldn't nip at his nose. every time he exhaled, wispy clouds formed and then disappeared.
he was new to america. he decided to settle in new york while he did school. he did miss his family, but he was quite happy here.
he found himself staring up at the big screens in time square in awe, smiling softly. oblivious to girls checking him out. but he didn't care. he didn't even notice.
his name was lee jooheon, and this was his first year experiencing a real christmas.

he walked into the studio apartment he shared with his best friend. he threw his backpack onto the table and sat down sighing loudly. it was quiet, leaving him to his thoughts.
he was wearing a white hoodie with words written in red. his black hair disheveled and hanging into his eyes haphazardly.
his eyes were heavy with sleep. he shivered slightly and went to the stereo to put on some music.
he's lived here his whole life with his mom. his dad was out of the picture, leading to some serious daddy issues and unresolved childhood trauma. he was nineteen, and in the university with the best dance class in new york.
he spaced out staring out the window down at the busy streets below.
his name was yoo kihyun, and this would be his nineteenth year experiencing another miserable, forgettable christmas.
____________________it was jooheon's first day of class. he attended the school with the best dance class in all of new york according to everyone in his family. he was late this morning, only getting about two hours of sleep, and skipped out on breakfast, only having time to change into a black tee shirt, and some black adidas workout pants with white stripes on the sides of the legs. to top it off, he put on some black and white hi top vans and grabbed his already packed duffel bag before rushing out of his small apartment and off to class. his day wasn't going as well as he had hoped.
_________________kihyun woke up, still groggy from the night before. he glanced around his room smelling smoke, and then the memories from last night came flooding back to him.
he sat up in bed feeling woozy and sick to his stomach. he took a shower to wake himself up, standing there for a couple minutes just listening to the water pitter patter against the shower walls before washing his hair and body then rinsing off. after he showered he changed into a blue hoodie and some black skinny jeans with holes in the knees. he put on some black and white converse before going back to brush his teeth, then grabbing his duffel bag, making sure it had all his stuff in it and skipping out on breakfast.
once he was in class, he sat in the way back where nobody could bother him. after a couple dance practices that left him sweaty, someone came in hesitant, raising kihyun's interest.
the teacher looked irritated, but still introduced the mystery boy to the class.
"everyone this is the new student, lee jooheon. he moved here from korea and will be taking this class for the rest of the semester."
kihyun rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, but paid enough respect to the teacher by giving her his attention.
the teacher had told jooheon to take a seat and then went about her business.
the girls looked at jooheon and giggled, but he didn't seem to notice. and kihyun realized that the seat next to him was the only open one. he rolled his eyes as jooheon sat down next to him. just his luck, he got stuck sitting next to the new kid.hi! so uhhh I've been a fan of Monsta X for a few months now so what better way to pass time than by writing a fanfic! anyways hope you like the first chapter! updates will try to be frequent 💛
