I sighed at Mia's question and reply, "No, I don't want to go on a date with Michael. I told you I'm not gay."
"Aww. But you two would be cute together," Mia chimes.
"Yeah. Dude, you could go on double dates with us," Lily adds, not even looking up from her phone.
I sigh again. God, what is with these two. I'm not gay. Before either of them can make another comment, Brian and Jack step over.
"Hey guys," Brian starts, clearly setting up to ask a question.
"Yeah?" Me and Lily ask in unison.
"Well, this is more towards Jay," he says, sounding a bit concerned.
I look at him and wave my hand, signaling for him to continue.
He nods his head and continues, "Okay, so, uh, why was Maddison not supposed to come today? You said something the other day about her not coming and you seemed upset that she was here today. I was just wondering if something wrong?"
"Aww, Brian's concerned about her. That's so sweet," Lily exclaims finally looking up from her phone.
"No he's not," I quickly say before answering Brian's question, "Her therapist said she shouldn't. So either her therapist changed her mind, which definitely didn't happen, or she decided to disobey her therapist, which probably did happen."
"That's not true," a voice chimes up from behind Brian. Brian scoots over slightly to make room for Jack. God damn, why does he always try to stick up for her? He doesn't even talk to her.
I look at him in annoyance and raise my voice, "How would you know? You don't know her like I do."
"Yeah, I don't know her like you do, because you don't actually know her, you just make shitty assumptions about untrue rumors," he quickly argues back.
Before I can argue back Mrs. Pinsky cuts in. "Now, I hate to cut into your peaceful discussion but, have any of you seen Hannah, Tom, or Maddison? I did a head count and those three are gone."
Mia starts to turn around saying, "Maddi is sitting..." before stopping.
I turn around as well to see an empty bench. "Oh shit... Dad's gonna kill me."
"Where the fuck did she go?" Jack mumbles.
"Language Jack." Mrs. Pinsky mumbles.
We stand around the stump in confusion, unsure of what to do, when a loud and shrill scream emits from the forest. We all look around in shock. The hell?
Mia, who is hiding behind Lily, asks, "What was that?"
"It sounded human. It might be one of the missing students!" Mrs. Pinsky says, sounding almost terrified.
"It could be Madd," Jack points out before darting down the small path behind us.
I follow him, running as fast as I can. I hear more footsteps behind me and shouting from Mrs. Pinsky. Jack stops suddenly, coming to a halt in front of me. I dodge him but come to a stop as well.
The clearing we've entered is covered in blood, a torn up body in the middle and two more people at the other end. I step back in horror and gag. What the hell!! I hear more people stop behind us and many more gasps.
Jack takes a deep inhale before saying, "Maddi," and darting across the clearing towards the two opposing bodies.
"Oh my gosh, Hannah!" Mrs. Pinsky screams, following Jack across the clearing.
Oh god. Dad's definitely going to kill me.
