UNEDITED

I fought the urge to roll my eyes at the boy as I noticed the sunglasses sitting on his sloped nose. He strode in, not giving the teacher or I even a glance and made his way to the corner of the dimly lit space taking a seat.

I now had the chance to study this mystery guy’s face; he had light stubble covering his jaw, light acne spread across his cheeks, and a lip ring. Now I was intrigued. His sunglasses were covering what I knew to be light blue eyes and he was currently sitting in what looked like an awfully uncomfortable position.

I stifled a laugh with my hand, observing his giant frame stcuk in one of the tiny desks. His long legs looked almost comical, knees hitting the underside of the table in a manner that seemed unbearable, and his long torso was hunched over the expanse of the faux wood.

The moment the short chuckles left my mouth, said mystery boy’s eyes darted to me, surely glaring at me through his black Ray Bans. I averted my eyes swiftly, turning my eyes towards the digital clock sitting on the wall above the woman now giving me a suspicious look. Shrugging to her, I relaxed in my seat, feeling self-conscious at the consistent burn of the blonde boy’s gaze on me.

As soon as detention was over I bolted out of the room, heavy bag hitting the back of my legs as my short legs tried their hardest to rush me out of the school.  Unfortunately, the 6-foot giant had easily caught up to me with lazy strides. This alone had me huffing angrily, let alone the fact that he just the decided to strike up a conversation with me.

“You’re that girl I bumped into right?” He questioned, baritone voice rich with an Australian accent. When I don’t reply, he continues talking, much to my disappointment. “You made me tardy.”

This time I don’t bother to stifle the laughs falling from my lips. He had the audacity to blame me for both of our detentions, wow. “I made you tardy? I’m so sorry to have made you late!” My voice was laced with sarcasm, eyes narrowing into slits at the annoyingly tall boy walking next to me. “How dare I accidentally bump into you? That was despicable of me! My bruised bum and I apologize for the inconvenience.” I hadn’t realized how angry I was about this stupid situation until the heated words made their way from my lips.

His eyebrows lifted in surprise at my rather feisty response and he raises his huge hands in surrender, shocking me by laughing softly. “Sorry, I wasn’t aware of you being so butthurt about the situation.” He then continued to burst into loud chuckles, his pun seeming to be funnier to himself than to his audience.

I simply replied to the boy’s idiotic response with a sharp glare, but my inner dork was silently laughing. Damn it. My breath was coming out heavily as I finally made my way out of the dank school and out into the fresh September air. I’m really out of shape. My get away from this nauseating boy was within my reach as I turned and started for the street next to the High School.

Walking home was usually my favorite part of my long and uneventful days, but today was different. As I neared the .25 mile point, a banged up red chevy pulled up beside me, the window rolled down and for the third time today, the foriegn blue eyed boy appeared beside me.
