"Come on Pip, do let's hurry. We really mustn't miss the train," said Bets, tugging on her older brother's arm.
"Look! There's Larry and Daisy," exclaimed Pip and he rushed off leaving Bets alone. Bets felt lonely for a moment - sometimes she felt like Pip didn't like her very much. However, she soon had a smile back on her face when Larry greeted her with a bag of Bulls - Eyes.
The children hurried down the road anxious of the time. They were soon approaching the house of Mr Goon, the village policeman.
"Come on," said Daisy, who disliked the large policeman with his red face and bulging eyes, "we don't want old Clear Orf to see us." But she was too late. No sooner had the children hurried past his gate, Mr Goon strode out for his morning rounds.
"Oi you," he shouted, "Now you look here...
"Where?" asked Larry politely, using an old trick of Fatty's.
"Now don't you be clever with me boy, I've had enough of all your so-called 'mystery solving'"
"I'll try not to use my intelligence Mr Goon - I can see you are very good at that." said Larry cooly and they hurried off before Mr Goon realised what he meant.
The train whistle sounded just as the children rounded the corner to the station.
"Do you think Fatty will be in disguise?" asked Bets eagerly.
"I hope we don't follow the wrong person again, thinking it's him," said Daisy with a giggle as they all remembered how good Fatty's disguises were. Just then, a little black scotty dog trotted round the corner - "Buster!" Bets squealed, followed by "Fatty!"
"Hallo little Bets," greeted Fatty, and he swung her round. "I say Pip, you've grown tall." Pip beamed, he was very proud that he was now about the same height as Larry and Fatty.
"Goodness, I'm absolutely famished!" Exclaimed Fatty "- I do hope your mother's laid on a good spread before we leave, it's a long train journey you know."
"Oh but it's worth it," added Daisy, "two weeks at the seaside by ourselves - I simply can't wait any longer."
The Five Find Outers and dog, reunited once more, were soon sat around the table in Pip and Bet's playroom. Mrs Hilton entered with a plate of sandwiches and a large chocolate cake.
"I hope you get yourselves enough food in Kirrin," worried Mrs Hilton.
"Mummy-" moaned Pip.
"I'm just making sure you'll be alright," she replied sternly and left the room. Bets leaned forward.
"Do you think we'll find any mysteries to solve?" She asked eagerly. She knew her mother didn't approve of their so-called 'meddling'.
"Don't be silly," scorned Pip, "you can't just go looking for mysteries."
"But we do seem to have a habit of stumbling across them," said Daisy
"Remember the mystery of the vanishing prince?" added Larry, "that was exciting,"
"And remember the time when we found the missing necklace?"
"And the time that..."

Soon the Five Find Outers and Dog were on the train, heading to the seaside and before they knew it, they were pulling in to Kirrin station.
"Come on," said Fatty, "there's another train coming in and we don't want to get caught in the crowd." So the group hurried off the train and onto the platform. Larry helped Fatty with the trunks and they called a porter over to load the luggage onto the pony and trap awaiting them.
As they were making their way down the platform they passed a boy with a large dog. The children hurried past but Buster had other ideas - he'd found a new friend to play with.
"Come on Buster darling," said Bets, who wanted to get into her nice warm bed.
"Tim, come away," said the boy with the dog. Then he turned to Bets, "Sorry, Timmy's just excited because he knows that my cousins are on that train," he said motioning towards the steam engine that was pulling in. Two boys and a girl got off,
"Hallo George!" said the oldest boy, who Bets thought looked friendly.
"Hello" said the boy's younger sister to the Five Find Outers, thinking they were friends of George, "I'm Anne, George's cousin and these are my brothers Julian," she said pointing towards the oldest boy, "and Dick."
"I'm Bets," said Bets.
"I'm Fatty and this is my dog Buster."
"I'm Larry."
"And I'm his sister, Daisy."
"And I'm Pip, Bets' brother."
Julian held out his hand to Fatty,
"Nice to meet you," he said, "are you friends of George?"
"No - I mean, he seems very nice but we've only just met."
Anne giggled but George glared at her as if warning her not to say something.
"Well," said Fatty, "It was nice to meet you but we'd best be off." And so the two parties went their separate ways.
