I cower beside a darkened alley,
Staring at my own lifeless silhouette,
I spend my short days hiding from the world,
Suffocating from my own existence,
I've been battered and bruised and left for dead,
Covered in scars from my feet to my head,
My left ear is chipped and left eye is blind,
Not one person stops to acknowledge my kind,
Suffocating from my own existence,
Trembling and still, like I've no importance,
Like my nine lives haven't ran out already,
Or my cold grey toes cannot hold me steady,
I'm drowning slow from the thoughts in my head,
I've been battered and bruised and left for dead,
It is sleep time now; my 9th life is done,
Take me to Heaven to daze in the sun,
But before I do, just remember that;
YOU neglected ME, because I was a cat...
