A Hearts Desire

CHAPTER 3

I wake up a mess my hair all knotty and my eyes are red and puffy from crying i get up and bathe in a warm bath and sit and relax for a moment. I am begining to feel sleepy when a loud but in a way dainty knock on the door gets me out of my thoughts i immediatly know its Kate my maid. "Miss are you okay?" i hear her gentle voice say i love Kate she is the kindest person i know she is a little older than me she is 21 but we are best friends "Yes i'm fine" i respond even though i still feel like an emotional wreck but i dont want to worry her. I get out of the bath and into my dressing gown and step out of the bathroom Kate is making my bed she looks up at me and smiles " Good morning miss" i smile back and say "how many times do i have to tell you to call me diana!" she just shakes her head and helps me get ready. Once i am dressed and my hair is fixed i head down to breakfast no-one is in the dining hall when i arrive so i head down to the kitchens to ask the cooks for an apple. I make my way down the staircase to the kitchens i love it in here the smell of cooking food makes me warm inside i see the head cook Mrs Grenne and ask her for an apple she smiles at me and hands me one. I head out the back door from the kitchens to the gardens to eat my apple i once again find myself admiring the pretty colours of the flowers surrounding me. I find a good spot and sit in the gardens in complete peace and eat my apple i see a sweet little bunny hop across the grass and chase after a butterfly i wish to myself i could be like that bunny free and happy to do whatever i wanted without it mattering to anyone but it just isnt my fate.

I begin to daydream entering my little world in my mind once again when i suddenly feel the desire to see Blake i had completely forgotten about last night. I get up and walk over to the stables and find him cleaning riding boots behind the stables he notices my presence and looks up at me he gives me a cheeky grin "hello trouble" he says in his warming voice i dont know what it was but him calling me trouble made me blush. "Why am i trouble?" i ask raising my eyebrows he just looks at me and laughs " do you have any idea how late i was last night i forgot to shut the stable door" i giggle he looks back down at the boots he is cleaning then i realise they are mine " you dont need to clean mine its fine" his eyes dart up at me " no if they are yours i should make them extra shiny" i roll my eyes at him then laugh. We spend the next half an hour or so laughing and chatting when i see my maid Kate running across towards me..... "Miss! Miss!" she finally makes it to me i look at her confused " its the queen she needs you to go to the throne room immediatly" Kate finally manages to say once she has caught her breath. I nod and she starts to walk back i look at Blake then whisper in his ear " meet me in our secret spot" he nods then i head back to the palace with Kate. We arrive back at the palace and i head of to the throne room i find my mother and only my mother in the room sat on her throne look stern as ever. I step forward " you wished to see me " i speak clearly my voices echoes throught the room " yes i did where have you been?" my mother asks i stand there not sure what to say " Diana you were missing late last night and most of today where have you been?". After a pause that felt like a lifetime i finally say " i was in the gardens " my mother looks at me for a moment trying to work out if im telling the truth "why were you in the gardens?" she asks i feel a lump form in my throat as i say " thinking of father" she scoffs " Your father is dead you need to move on and think of your future now get out of my sight!" i cant belive what i just heard i look her directly in the eyes and scream " YOU HEARTLESS WITCH I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE!" to say she looked stunned was an understatement i storm out the throne room and run to my chamber.

I step out onto the balcony and look up at the stars i lie down on the circular bed hammock i have and just gaze up at the stars and close my eyes. I am so full of anger and hatred at my mother at the world i look up and i feel my heart in my chest my heart desires for this freedom. I feel like i am flying and i could just touch the moon that lights up the sky along with the millions of stars that sparkle. I feel peace once more and relax when a small rock lands on the balcony i run to the edge and look down to meet eyes with Blakes great big blue eyes that are twinkiling in a magical way i whisper " what are you doing!" he smiles " you wernt at the garden so i came back saw you on your blacony so.." i giggle. Blake just stares at me for a moment we are held in each others gaze then he scales the nearby tree so he is level with my balcony he lies down on the branch and looks up at the sky " i still love the stars" he sighs. I go and lie back down on my hammock bed and start to star gaze again " i desire to have this much freedom" Blake finally says " me to" i respond he sits up a swivels round to look at me " you look so beautiful tonight" he says looking me right in the eye i blush hard " i dont think so i look a state" he just shakes his head. Me and Blake are caught in a gaze once again when i hear someone coming " quick go someone is coming!" i whisper shout Blake climbs back down the tree " see you tommorow" he says winking i nod and he runs into the night when the door opens.
