It was Valentine's Day in the soul society. Every female was speaking animatedly with their friends or giving their gift to their crush, all except one. The black-haired girl stood watching everyone, while she fiddled with the envelope in her hand. With a nervous sigh, the girl headed over to the 10th division barracks.

Upon arrival, she noticed the group already surrounding Captain Hitsugaya, her shoulders slumped at the sight. She turned to leave but got caught in a suffocating hug.

"Rangiku..can't..breath" the girl struggled to speak.

"Oh, sorry Luna" the ginger let go.

"It's...Okay," Luna breathed deeply, "Hey could you do me a favor?"

"Sure,"

Luna handed the envelope to Rangiku.

"Give this to your captain for me please and don't tell him who it's from."

"Are you sure you don't want him to know it's from you," Rangiku asked, taking the envelope.

"I'm sure" Luna stated walking away.

Several days have passed since Luna passed the letter on. She'd been running around delivering papers to different captains, and her last stop was the 10th division. Luna walked up to the door as raised voices came from within. She knocked on the door and waited for a response.

"Come in" a male voice spoke.

She opened the door only to be pounced on by the ginger lieutenant. The papers she was holding got crushed between the two as the hug became too much.

"Rangiku..can't..breath" Luna muffled out. The ginger let go with an apologetic look on her face. Luna smoothed out the papers before stepping over to Captain Hitsugaya's desk.

"Thank you Luna" Hitsugaya spoke not looking up from his paperwork.

"You're welcome," she bowed.

When she raised up, Luna noticed her letter sitting on the edge of his desk. Her cheeks heated as she turned away, but she ran into Rangiku. Luna stumbled back and knocked over the letter and a couple of other papers. Captain Hitsugaya looked up just in time to see this all happen. He stood up really quick and scrambled to get the letter off the floor.

"What the hell are you doing?" he yelled, making sure the letter didn't get damaged.

"I-I'm s-sorry C-Captain," Luna stuttered.

"Captain, don't be so mean to Luna, it wasn't her fault," Rangiku tried to reason.

"This is the only letter that didn't confess someone's undying love or some stupid thing like that," Toshiro shouted.

"Really" Rangiku gaped.

"I'm sorry" Luna repeated before running out the door.

Tears streamed down her face as she made it back to her room and slammed the door. Luna slid down the door and sobbed quietly into her knees. A knock sounded on the door.

"Luna" Rangiku's voice rang out.

Luna got up and opened the door a crack.

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah."

She opened the door wider to let her friend in. Rangiku walked in and perched on the bed. Silence rang out for a few minutes as Luna slid back to the floor.

"What did you say in that letter?"

"That he was a great captain, and that I admired him for it."

"You didn't tell him anything about your feelings for him."

Luna shook her head no as she looked at the ground, not meeting Rangiku's eyes. The ginger cleared her throat as she stood up. She walked over to where her friend sat and crouched down.

"Well, I won't ask why, because I know you'll just avoid answering."

"Thanks, Rangiku."

"Don't mention it, but I hope one day you'll tell him."

Luna watched her friend leave as so many thoughts ran through her head. With a sigh, she got up and prepared to go to sleep for the next day.

Several weeks had passed since the incident in Captain Hitsugaya's office. Luna was out delivering another stack of papers around. She stopped at the 10th barracks first. Rounding the corner, Luna didn't hear the usually arguing coming from the office. She knocked on the door and heard a faint "come in". Luna opened the door and saw only the captain today.

"Good morning, Captain Hitsugaya."

"Good Morning."

Luna set the papers on the white-haired captain's desk and proceeded to leave.

"Luna."

She turned back to see Toshiro staring at her.

"Yes, Captain."

"Could you help me with something after you finish your work?"

"Sure, what do you need help with."

"Help me find the person who wrote that letter."

Luna followed his gaze and found her letter sitting in the same spot.

"O-Okay."

She went to leave to finish her work when he spoke again.

"Oh, and I'm sorry about yelling at you. I know you didn't intend to knock the letter off my desk."

"It's fine."

After the encounter with Toshiro, Luna resumed her duties. Stopping at every barracks to hand off the papers to the rightful captains. When she was walking from place to place, she couldn't help but think of the 10th division captain. Luna shook her head and continued on with her work.

Later on, she arrived at Toshiro's office and knocked. No answer came, so she tried again, but still nothing. With a huff, Luna headed back to her room. Upon arrival, she spotted a piece of paper attached to the door. She grabbed and unfolded it.

Luna,

Meet me by the lake on the outskirts of the wall.

-Toshiro

Luna put the note away in her robe as she made her way to the lake. Once she arrived, Toshiro was standing by the edge, glancing out at the glistening surface.

"C-Captain."

He spun around to face her with a small smile on his lips. Luna timidly made her way by him before returning his smile.

"Thank you" he whispered.

"Oh, it's no trouble at all," Luna answered.

"Not for helping me."

"Oh, for what?"

"For the letter."

"Wh-What."

"I saw you give it to Rangiku that day. It means the world to me you wrote all those things Luna."

Luna looked away, blushing, not knowing what to say. Toshiro's soft fingers turned her chin gently to face him.

"Thank you for the letter" he whispered again before kissing her.
