Sakura petals fell around the captain of squad six as different girls approached him with gifts. Everyone knew it was the Captain's birthday today, even Luna. Unlike all the girls, she stood and watched from afar. Her blue eyes broke away from the view as she turned to leave.

"Hey Luna, where are you going" a voice called out to her. She glanced over to the voice and found Renji walking towards her. Luna waved at him before continuing to leave. Renji had a look of concern for his black-haired friend as he saw her walk away.

"Hi Luna, how are you," a female ran up.

"Hey, Rukia."

"What's wrong Luna?"

Luna just shook her head as she gazed away from her friend. Rukia smiled softly at the upset girl and brought her into a hug.

"Hey you guys, what's up?"

Both girls turned to find Renji.

"Hey, Renji."

"Hi."

As both her friends chattered away, Luna scanned the grounds. No one noticed that Captain Kuchiki came around.

"Lieutenant Abarai."

"Yes, sir."

"Captain Yamamoto wants to see you and Rukia."

"Yes, sir" both saluted before flash stepping away.

Luna felt uncomfortable, so she left to her house. Unbeknownst to her, the letter she had written for Byakuya fell from her robe. He saw this and stepped over to it. His name was scribbled on it in her handwriting. Byakuya picked it up, confused to what the envelope contained.

That night Luna sat on her bed in her purple oversized t-shirt and blue shorts. She bent over and searched her discarded robes for the letter. Luna panicked, tossing everything around in her room to find the missing parchment. She sunk to the floor, realizing the envelope could be anywhere in the seireitei. Tears silently fell from the girl's blue eyes as her hopes of telling Byakuya her feelings slipped away. Luna crawled into her bed deflated and cried herself to a dreamless sleep.

Morning came and went with no signs of Luna, who had stayed home. Around noon a knock came at her door, which she tried to ignore. After the fourth knock, Luna rolled out of bed.

"I'm coming" she groggily shouted.

Luna opened the door wide to the person. Her eyes widened at the site of Captain Kuchiki standing there. She slammed the door shut and pressed against the wooden frame, wondering why he was here.

"Luna, open the door."

The girl shook her head from side to side, wishing he would just go away. A fresh set of tears leaked down her face at the thought of the letter again. Luna heard a sigh from the man outside and felt something slide next to her hand. She looked down to find a note with her name scrolled in his perfect handwriting. Luna shakily grabbed the note off the floor and unfolded it.

Luna,

Meet me at my estate, we have an important matter to discuss.

-Byakuya

Probably something to do with the soul society, Luna thought getting up. She quickly got dressed, not wanting to keep the Captain waiting for fear of punishment. The letter temporarily forgotten as Luna made her way to The Kuchiki Estate. She finally arrived at the door and gently knocked on it. A maid answered, allowing her in quickly. The woman led Luna to a bedroom and told her to wait here for the captain. She fiddled with her fingers as she took in her surroundings. A four-poster king-size bed sat against the left side of the room. A wardrobe on the back wall with a desk a few feet away. The room was a pleasant shade of white that tied the dark brown of the furniture altogether. The door behind Luna clicked open as Byakuya walked in. He shut the door as he turned his attention to the girl in front of him. Luna glanced down at her hands, not being able to meet his gaze.

"Thank you for coming, Luna," he replied softly.

She simply nodded in response. He edged closer to her, but made no further moves. Luna took a deep breath.

"W-What m-matter d-did y-you w-want t-to dis-discuss," she stuttered out.

"This" Byakuya answered, pulling out her letter.

"H-How d-did you get that?"

"You dropped it yesterday when you left."

Luna looked down, contemplating what to do.

"Why didn't you give it to me?"

She gazed up in surprise at his words.

"Y-You d-didn't read it?"

"No."

Luna not wanting to deal with this anymore snatched the letter and tried to run out the room. Byakuya swiftly caught her by the arm and yanked her back against him.

"Please tell me" he whispered in her ear.

Luna rocked her head as tears threatened to spill. She gripped the letter tightly against her chest as he snaked his arms around her waist.

"What are you afraid of?" he asked by her ear.

"Rejection" she whispered to the ground, but he still heard it.

He brought his hand up gently cup her cheek and turned her face to him.

"I won't reject you, Luna, I love you."

His lips collided with hers in a passionate, yet gentle kiss. All his emotions being conveyed in that one action. They pulled away for some air.

"I love you too, Byakuya."
