CHAPTER 2: WAKING

My eyes shot open as a soft gasp escaped my lips, beads of sweat rolling down my forehead and dropping down onto the white sheets of my bed.

My home was silent, the only thing i could hear were my heavy breathing. I closed my eyes and attempted to calm myself down. It took a few moments to do so.

Once i had successfully calmed my breathing. I slowly propped myself up into a sitting position with my arms. Strands of my faded green hair falled over my face, i payed little to no mind to them.

I pinched the collar of my plain white shirt and gently pulled on it, restraining it from sticking to my sweaty skin.

My chestnut brown eyes casually scanned over my messy room. Stray rays of sunlight seeped in from my window that were covered by crimson red curtains, the spots where the rays were had small dust particles scattered and floating about.

Letting out a soft sigh, i pushed myself off of the bed. My socked feet meeting the wooden floor. I walked towards the door of my room as i hand-combed my messy hair, trying to make it look a tad bit neater.

Grasping onto the door knob, i twisted it and pulled the door open and swiftly walked out --but not before closing the door again--

Walking through the dimly lit hallways of my home, i casually looked at all the picture frames hung on the walls. My half-lidded eyes scanning through all of them one by one,

One specific picture caught my attention, it was a picture of me happily grinning as i held in my arms, a special stuff toy that i dearly loved.

"Ace.." i muttered as a smile slowly formed on my lips.

I still had that same teddy bear, it still looked good as new. I took care of it very well.

Its been years. I've had that teddy bear since i was 10 years old. And im 16 now,

I never minded if it was silly or not, i still kept and loved it. All for his sake. Maybe, just maybe, i still had hope to see him again.

I let out a sigh and blissfully walked away, the smile slowly fading away from my lips. "Do i still have hope..?" I quietly asked myself as i walked into the kitchen, to get myself a bite to eat.

Walking over to the fridge, i was met with a note that was directed to me. The note was written out neatly, i recognized the handwriting and read it over.

"Good morning, sweetheart. Me, as well as your brother and father. Went out to attend a birthday party that your brother was invited to, we figured you wouldn't want to come since you were worn out yesterday from the trip. So we decided to leave you at home, there's food in the fridge and some readied sandwiches on the table for you. If you're planning on going out for a walk, please don't forget to grab the keys of the house and lock the door! We'll be back by noon, or so. Stay safe, sweetheart. We love you.

-Mom"

I looked over to the table in the middle of the kitchen to see a plate of sandwiches, as promised by the note. I walked over to it and grabbed the plate and brought it out to the living room, then carefully placing it on top of the wooden coffee table.

I grabbed one sandwich and took a small bite out of it as i reached for the TV remote that was placed on top of the table as well. Once i got it, i opened the TV and switched through the many channels of it.

I continued doing this until i stopped at one channel that caught my eye, it was the News channel.

There was a tall man that stood a fair distance behind the news reporter, i couldn't quite make out what he looked like since he had his hood on and the shadow of it covered his eyes. It felt like he was staring intently at the camera, or- he was staring right at me. His gaze digging deep into my soul, I shuddered at the feeling.

What i can make out was that he had long silky white hair that was pulled into a messy low ponytail. He didn't look old though, and his hair didn't look it was dyed either.

I didn't pay that much attention to the news reporter. My eyes stayed glued at the suspicious man behind the reporter, i couldn't get myself to look away. My curiosity was getting the best of me.

After a few minutes, i slowly raised a brow as i saw that there was some sort of 'colorful fog' forming at the ground and slowly made its way to surround the lower half of the reporter. Weirdly enough, it seemed like the reporter didn't notice it, as well as the other reporters from the studio.

My chestnut brown eyes trailed up to the tall hooded man to see him wickedly smiling. I furrowed my eyebrows as a sense of panic welled up inside me. Can the people there really not see what's happening!? It was as if they didn't even notice the man at the back!

I looked back at the reporter to see them looking a bit drowsy and their eyes going dull, their words were starting to get jumbled up, I couldn't understand some parts of their speech.

This went on for a while until my eyes trailed back to the tall hooded man again. I shuddered, my posture straightening up in alarm as i saw the man's smile forming into a wicked grin, he slowly took off his hood to reveal abnormally bright blue eyes. The grin on their lips never faltering and the channel starting to slowly go static.

A gasp escaped my lips as i saw the reporter get engulfed by the fog in a flash and the channel fully going static.

I grabbed the remote and flipped through the other channels to see that they were working fine, the news channel was the only one that didn't.

"Please tell me that was a fake show." I breathed as i stared at the static show on the TV.

A chill went up my spine as i thought about what could've happened to the reporter. I quickly shook my head to dismiss the thought, and turned the TV off.

"Maybe i should take a walk in the city, just- just to get my mind off of that.. show." I mumbled, hesitance evident in my voice as i stood up and grabbed the plate of sandwiches and placed it back at the table in the kitchen.

While at the kitchen, the TV turned on by itself and switched to the static channel.

A voice faintly echoing from it, soft enough that i couldn't hear it.

"Found you."
