Sweet Dreams

Reino stalked through the forest staggering around with a befuddled look on her face. She hadn't found any of her teammates and was running low on water. After looking for them for a good while she decided to go to the lake she visited before in search of any townspeople or even better, one of her underclassman. After starting joyously to the lake, she realized she didn't know the way. 'God, I am such a fool, why didn't I pay more attention on my way from the lake.'

She plopped onto the floor, exhausted. "I would not hurt to take a small nap." She murmured, slumped down on the side of a tree. Her strength failed her this time, and she closed her eyes to rest.

    She was awoken by quick taps to her face, stinging her profoundly."Wakey wakey, Troll Princess." Reino was greeted with Chromethos' pale face, his icy eyes piercing hers with amusement."I thought you wandered off and died despite what I told you." He stopped to glare at her and closed his eyes to continue his lecture."I am glad you are healthy though." He said brushing her arm.

    A girl with short strawberry blonde hair tried to jog to them. Instead of making it and worrying for her leader, she fell face forward and bruised her hands in attempt to lighten the damage given to her. Chromethos shook his head at her clumsy behavior. Reino jumped up to check on her.

    "I am fine, but are you Boss! Nobody but this punk knew where you were all day!" The girl known as Rose shouted in Reino's face as Reino touches her ear to see if it is ok. Chromethos puts his finger i his ear and pulls it around in a circular motion to ease the ringing in his ear.

    "I am fine, just don't scream anymore,." Reino begged the girl as she brushed off her dark pants leg. Chromethos shook his head vigorously in agreement. Rose just blushed in embarrassment that she did such a thing in front of two of her higher-ups.

    Chromethos cleared his throat, awkwardly tugging at his white collar. "I think we should just go meet the others, it will be dark very soon and no one wants to deal with the beasts that reside here." Chromethos pulled Rose up and beckoned Reino to follow in pursuit. They all knew too well that being caught in this forest, of all, is the worst thing that could possibly happen to them.

    As they started walking they heard the terrifying noise of cracking, the cracking of dry hands, squelching follows the cracking, dripping resounding through the deadly silent forest. Reino stopped moving. She looked to her friends to see Rose was shaking, and Chromethos looked upset as he pulled Rose to his side in comfort. Her hand swiftly moved to her side, her thin pale fingers pulling lightly at her blade. Rose also reached a shaky hand to her holster and Chromethos reached for a pack of liquid on his belt. Reino pulled the hook from the scabbard, the clicking sound seemed like a shout in a sanctuary. The noise from the being that was heard before, suddenly halted. Footsteps came next, slow soft footsteps. 'They sounded like shoes, so was it a monster?' Chromethos wondered to himself preparing to make a simple greeting to a common man and rush off to the base.

It was a monster. Beyond every ounce of confusion the trio faced this being was the most puzzling. It wore dress shoes, formal pants and a suit jacket. It was however covered from neck up with something like a moose head blood and skin around its mouth, its antlers darkening the more they grew. It also had talismans and charms hanging down from the antlers, its hands covered in blood and broken nearly to pieces, and gnawed with gashed skin and meat presenting itself, it wore torn gloves that were pitch black. The most disturbing thing was that it had eyes that seemed calm and gentle despite what they saw.

    Reino broke into a dash, it caught her off guard but regardless she had to protect her comrades. She pulled her blade down to slash it, and hit target. It still stood there its once motionless body shaking. She went in for another strike to be stopped by Chromethos. He held her shoulder to which she did not shrug him off. She backed away and sheathed her sword once again. In all this commotion, Rose stood terrified. She could not move only look on pathetically as her friend fought. She nearly cried, as she stood there uselessly.

    Chromethos got closer to the creature after stopping Reino. They stood a few inches off from each other. Chromethos looked closely at it, examining its talismans for some reason. His hand reached up to brush the talisman, and the creature let out another scream, Reino examined the scenario with her eyes narrowed and arms crossed. Rose calmed down, but still stood to the side. The being stood, now breathing heavily as Chromethos brushed its accessories.

    "Go, Let's go just don't look at it as you pass, and don't touch it. I think it is sensitive to these charms, maybe they are its offering." Chromethos said making a hand motion for them to pass.

    Reino rolled her eyes at him."Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. Never even considered it." She said as she maneuvered around the tall being, glancing at it and skipping past. Rose followed in suit jogging past it so she would no longer see it.  Chromethos was the last to go, the creature's eyes followed him as he walked and soon they all broke into a sprint.

    Reino chuckled, as the creature let out another cry and ran after them. After a exhilarating chase, the creature stopped, grumbling in anger and went off to find another victim. They made it to their temporary base and stopped at the purple tent. It was for the higher-ups and since dinner had ended they might as well joke around with each other till they fell asleep.

    "Oi, Chro, Rosy. let's play." Reino smirked at the two as she grabbed a feather pillow. Rosy giggled and picked up a small yellow pillow, hitting Chromethos over the head. Chromethos yelped in pain, and threw a pillow at Reino who was beating him.

    "Wait a minute, you really left me out? So mean..." A girl with white hair, red eyes, and beautiful ebony skin known as Folish said as she walked in with a pout. As soon as she finished a white pillow hit her square in the face, and she fell laughing.

    They all chased each other around with pillows, and soon they got tired and all fell onto the lush grass,giggling." You are all evil, I think I got bruises." Chro said rubbing his arm and glaring at them all.

    Rose just laughed as Folish rubbed Chromethos arm in sympathy. The main target from all of them was Chromethos, his high-pitch yelp was a hilarious sound, and proved to be an entertainment. Reino was the winner of the whole night, if anyone saw their shadows in the tent side, they would think she was actually beating people with a brick.

Reino was long asleep, after almost an hour of running around she needed to rest, so she closed her eyes to rest, and her friends joked till all was silent. A warrior came in to check up on the group, he heard screaming and laughing coming from the tent so he was curious. When he opened the flap he saw the four, sleeping. He blew out the candles and silently walked away.

I really wanted to just use this chapter to introduce a few phrases and characters, I will explain it now.

Rose: Rose has been explained in (A/N Info) she is a more important character.

Folish: Folish is a explosive specialist, she is a minor character but is shown to be a good friend of all here teammates.

The Guardian (1): The forest has many guardians, the one they met in this chapter is in charge of keeping the forest safe. All guardians are crowned with talismans and charms, given to them to keep surrounding villages safe.

I really like Wednesday updates so that will be it for this book, My overall goal is like 40 or so chapters so 40 weeks will be it and a few less because I got some time till classes start. I hope to also make the base for another story and have 3 up by June. I want to make a fanfic for Yuno from Black Clover and Sakamoto from Haven't You Heard I'm Sakamoto.
