Been there, sitting on my bed while I could sleep on it. I adjusted my glasses on my sweet little nose and looked at the clock which showed 9 o'clock in the evening.
According to house rules, it was an hour to hit the sack, but the thoughts running through my head provoked me to sit and stare at the giant wall that I once painted terribly awesome with a friend.
We wanted to paint something genuinely different, but the outcome of our effort was...
Quite remarkable.!
Which we were proud of.!
And by staring at the same wall, doesn't mean I was recalling those memories.
No.
I was just tired.
Tired of being trapped in these walls.
As all the other walls made me uneasy, I settled on staring at the one that could calm me.
Calm my soul.
Staring at the wall, I was plotting a plan.
An escape plan...!
Which was quite not easy to achieve.
As you can see... Down there... There was my Ma.
Like every night, she was there relaxing on her favorite couch, which was in the middle of the living room. Near to the stairs.
She is the one who sets the rules of this house. How funny it is that she expects me to be in bed, whereas, she sits on her favorite couch in the living room, reading her favorite fashion magazine keeping it on her lap, turning its pages with her free hand, while holding her favorite coffee mug by her other hand, taking sips of her special coffee.
What's so special about it, is beyond my concern.
My focus was on how to escape from my house without being caught by my Ma.
I had a plan, but I wasn't sure about it.
But I was determined to escape.
So, here I was outside my room, with my slippers in one hand and another covering my mouth.
To control my breath from the BREATH-CATCHER sitting on the couch.
Upon descending the final step, I immediately dropped down to all fours and crawled toward the front door.
The floor on which I was crawling was super smooth and duper clean. Also, my hairless bare smooth legs had made an impedance sound, making a weird noise in the house.
I instantly crept behind the couch.
Yes, the one where my mother was relaxing.
To my luck, she seems too deep into her magazine to notice the noise.
That was my cue to crawl toward the door. When I almost reached there,
God's curse fell upon on me.
"Where do you think you are going?" I heard my mom's voice.
I don't get how she does that?
I am assertive, that she possesses some power and I certainly blame it on God.
"Ma, how many times have I had to tell you, not to stop me from behind, it's an Omen." I quoted.
Putting her mug on the coffee table, she turns to me.
Yes, she wasn't even looking at me when she caught me.
"As many times as I told you not to leave the house after eight o'clock." She said in her obvious tone.
That's why I was trying to escape without telling her.
I am seventeen years old for God's sake and you can't lock me in the house.
NOT WHEN I WANT TO BE FREE.
"You can't stop me." I challenged her and she gave me a deep, thoughtful look, but there was a freaking confidence on her face.
"Try me." She said murderously.
"Ma, please. Let me go." Now, that I was caught, I had to beg on my knees to convince her even though I knew she was not going to get convinced.
"No. Into your room. Now."
I glared her, through my glasses, staring at her with annoyance. Ranting some alien words at her, I walked up to my room, which was on the first floor of the house.
"And don't shut the...." I shut the door emphatically loud before she could complain about it.
In my room, I again sat on my bed, facing the window this time, which I had left open.
When I was a kid there was a story my dad used to say. A story where a ghost in a white cloak, eating the kids who don't sleep on time.
At first, I thought my dad was doing it to make sure I sleep on and before 10 P.M.
But that thought turned down when I actually saw it.
Trust me.
I did.
Once I was awake and you know was doing A Naughty Shake To My Snake.
That's when I saw a ghost outside my window wearing white freaking clothes which were waving in the wind.
It was a nerve-racking, goddamn ghost.
I never got to see his face, as he left without causing any harm.
Probably because he knew that kid's don't Shake Their Snakes.
As he was there to eat kids, not adults.
Which I am.
I was glad it never showed up after that night or tonight because where it once stood, there belongs the backup plan of my escape.
My plan of jumping down the window.
Scream Suicide...
Ok, don't.!
It's just a nine or ten-foot down to the ground.
Yeeeeeeeeee-Ha.
My jumping skills improved ever since I first jumped from this balcony.
Oh, also, I even learned to climb.
But I never really climb up to my balcony.
Whenever I jump down from here, I climb up to somewhere else.
It's another story, that I'll tell someday later.
Now, I needed to jump and land on my Ma's perfect lawn so that I could Escape.
