~Rider's POV~
Don't do it Rider. Don't give in. You want to be mad at him. You want to feel like ripping out his heart and stepping on it. If there's anyone I didn't want to see right at this moment, it would be Riley. I want him to go away. To stay away from me.
I stared at him for seconds, and seconds turned into minutes. Everyone behind us shuffled their feet around awkwardly. He took a step towards me and I gasped me. My heartbeat picked up as I watched his every move. Why did he have to be so god damn cute? Why?
He reached out to touch my shoulder, but I grabbed his hand gently and put it close to my heart. I closed my eyes and lowered my head. I could feel the other's eye pratically burning holes in my back. I whispered softly so only Riley and I could hear, "You see Riley? You damaged it." He sniffed and took a step back, his hand falling out of my hold. I looked up to see tears on the brim of his eyelids. I turned and looked down letting a few tears escape my eyes. Valerie rushed over to me and pulled me into a tight hug, and her and Skylar led me into the house, their mom tagging along with my bags.
I heard my dad tell Riley that he will drive him to a hotel and pay for him to stay a week to sort things out with me. To be honest, I wish he had said he was driving him back home.
The twins led me up stairs to my room which, by the way, was huge and beautiful. It had a view of the ocean on the balcony and window. The closet was a bit bigger than I needed, but it was very nice. My bed, oh gosh, it was massive. Now, I would've had time to enjoy it, accept I was crying so hard into a pillow now, that I can't exactly see. Valerie came in to check on me every so often, but she knew that I needed some space. Now I'm glad I have her as a sister. Skylar ended up driving Riley to a near by hotel. I can't imagine what went on there.
I rested my head on a pillow and let my sobs turn into tiny whimpers until I had fallen asleep. I grasped my pillow tightly to my chest and clenched my jaw as I woke up every few seconds to get images of Riley out of my head.
After countless hours of waking up and falling back asleep, I emerged from my room to the smell of something that made my tummy growl with hunger. The sent teased me as it lingered around me in the air. I shoved my hands deep in my pockets and began to follow the sent. It brought me down the halls and to the staircase and then the massive kitchen where my dad and Nicki, his wife, were placing dinner on the table. It looked so fancy and proper that I just wanted to take a picture of it and stare at it.. Nothing that looks better than even yourself should be eaten.
Skylar walked into the kitchen grunting as he luged Valerie on his back. "Are you going to take my hair-dryer again, Sky?" She asked in a small, childish voice, tapping her fingers on his back. "No Val, now can I put you down?" He huffed and pushed her up higher. "Take me to my seat." She ordered pointing to the chair at the far end. She waved at me to come foreward, "Come on Rider, you can sit by me." She smiled.
We all sat around the table, Skylar and Valerie on each side of me and my dad and Nicki on the other. They had a cooked chicken with lettuce, tomatoes, and lemons around it with mashed potatoes, corn, mac and cheese, and crissonts surrounding it in glass bowls. It was like Thanksgiving! Dad raised the knife to cut the chicken, when I yelled 'wait' at him. He stopped mid-cut and looked at me with confusion.
"What son?" He raised a eyebrow and lowered the knife. I looked around the table and saw one empty seat. "Where's Louis?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. My dad looked around nervously and rubbed the back of his neck, sweat beading on his brow, "Oh...uh...he dosen't really eat with us." I raised my eyebrow at him, no wonder he's so skinny. "Why?" I asked flatly. He scratched his head and looked past me at the wall, nervously. "I...uh...I don't know son." He stuttered and looked at Nicki who was biting her thumb nail and staring at her husband.
