“Death can be scary, don’t you think?”
She bitterly let out a laugh that sounded as a snort when she realized that man asked that stupid question. Kapagdaka’y dali- dali itong tinapunan ng masamang tingin. Her stare met his reddish brown eyes and for a moment she thought she was being swallowed into other dimension and being engulfed in a -- she snapped out of this chimera. Kung sa ibang pagkakataon siguro, she might be swayed by his almost perfect physique. That guy even brazenly lay in her bed.
This creature has been wandering around her room shamelessly without her permission. This guy ruined everything.
And what? Death can be scary?
“Why are you looking at me like that? Dahil ba sa paghiga ko o sa tinanong ko?” he said playfully as if he was thinking of something amusing.
“Are you really sure you’re asking me that question? Sa tingin mo talaga takot akong mamatay?”she retorted cynically that she could even taste the vile in her own mouth. She looked away as she tried to get herself together. If it wasn’t for this guy, everything should have ended already. Tapos na sana ang lahat. She wouldn’t have to feel this empty. She felt too empty it hurts. Gusto niyang isumbat ito sa lalaki but she couldn’t even find words to explain what she was feeling.
“I know you’re not afraid of dying. You wouldn’t try to kill yourself earlier if that was the case, honey.”
Was he mocking her?
She was about to say something harsh. However, when their eyes met, she stopped. Gone are his playful and mocking glances. She paused. Because for a moment she forgot to breathe. Until he spoke.“Being scared of dying is different from being afraid of death, honey.”
I stared at him with confusion. I watched him stood from where he was lying before, until he talked again. He was talking as he slowly made his way towards me.
“You’re not afraid of dying but you’re afraid of death. You almost killed yourself because you’re not afraid of losing your life,” he continued until he was already in front of her, “But tell you what, honey, I can read you. You’re not afraid to die but you fear what death can do. Because death can take those who you love the most, Clavis”
She gawked at him. Her eyes filled with confusion and astonishment. How the hell this man did know her name? She didn’t remember her telling him anything.
She stood quickly, her eyes gaping at him. And for a split of second she thought she saw his brown eyes turned into silver. She shook her head, she could feel his heart beating faster but she doesn’t understand why When she finally get herself together, she made her way towards her bedroom door.
However, before she could even take her first step, she felt a cold hand in her arm.
She stared at him wide- eyed. She never felt such coldness before.
“Who are you?” she heard herself asked, her voice barely registered above a whisper. He was too close to her for comfort but she couldn’t take away her eyes from his. Who the hell are you?”
He leaned even closer that made her shift uncomfortably. She tried to free herself from his grip but she failed. She was sure this guy did something to her.
Her heart almost stopped when she felt him breathe behind her ears.
“I should be asking that, love,” he whispered, “Who are you?”
And with that, he claimed her lips, sending her into an unknown universe, engulfed into a reverie she never thought existed. And just then, her world turned black, leaving her the memory of a pair of silver eyes boring deep into her soul.
