chapter three: Delilah, the creeper.

At dinner time, it was a peaceful dinner until I heard a knock at the front door. I looked back at where the door was and I looked at my mom, saying 'I'll get it,' and went to the front door. I put my hand on the knob and opened the door, it was Dustin Henderson, one of Mikes friends. I've always liked him out of all of Mike's friends, Nancy too - liking him.

"Lilah, you up to catch something amazing?" he says and I look out to see if I'm being punk'd or not. But all I saw was Steve in his car and looked at him. That's not like Dustin, he's always with the party and getting into government stuff. Lovely, huh?

"Uhhh, okay, what're you into now?" I ask and narrow my eyes at him, closing the door a bit since my parents don't know anything about what happened last year.

Dustin started explaining and of course, I went with him and he also explained how Steve was just there and right now, we're driving somewhere close to the lab and I'm becoming very anxious since I never told anyone yet.

"So, this lizard thing grew and grew?" I ask in the back seat, leaning over to see both of the favourite boys.

"Yeah, and he ate my cat." said Dustin while looking a bit sad.

"Wait, you named it already? Were you keeping this thing?!" I say really fast, feeling a bit left out since he's my go-to supernatural person. "Why didn't you tell me this??" I hit Dustin with the back of my hand on his upper arm, causing him to say ow quietly and making Steve chuckle.

"His name is Dart, okay? Don't call him an it. It's rude." he backfires, looking out the window and Steve looks at me through the tiny mirror of his car. I glared at him and he looked back onto the road. It was still day outside and the November air was becoming chilly everyday. How lovely, isn't it?

"Poor Mews, how's your mom feeling?" I break the small silence and just talk to him.

"She thinks... Mews ran away," he says and Steve quickly steps on the breaks, making me almost go head first.

He looks over at Dustin dead in the eye. "You lied to your mom?!"

I sit there with my mouth hanging, shocked and surprised. "So your mom has no idea?!" I shake my head and sit back in disbelief.

"Hey, hey, I'll tell her somehow, okay? Will you guys calm down? You sound like a married couple." Dustin says, looking at both of us kind of annoyed and chuckling softly. I roll my eyes and look outside the window.

"Why don't we just drop this, yeah?" I say quickly and saw a little yellow flag by a tree. Weird, the Mayor must be making a new property.

"Yeah, let's just go over to Dustin's place and kill that thing." Steve mumbles, starting the car again and driving to the boys place. After a few minutes of silence, I looked back over at Dustin.

"Where is your mom?" I ask as I furrow my brows and wait for him to answer.

"She went out to... look for Mews," he says slowly and I scoff, Steve doing the same. Steve looked out the window for a millisecond then onto the road and he took a deep breath.

The three of us went to Dustin's and it was dark now, it was maybe going on to 7:30. Steve turned the ignition off and got out, I did the same and so did Dustin. I leaned on Steve's car and saw him take out the bat with nails. All clean and saw a M.W near the bottom. I ignored it and followed the two boys to where this lizard thing was.
