I wake up-
To this cool air
To this warm quilt
And to his beating heart on my backI doze off-
To sounds of a cello
To sounds of a church bell
And of fingers twirling my hairI see here-
A bird chirps to another
A splash hits my legs
A sound resonates from himAnd that was enough
Enough to feel him hug me
Enough to feel him love me
Enough to feel him be happy-But I wonder if it was enough
Enough for him to hug
Enough for him to love
Enough for him to be happy-These insecurities clog my memory
From waking up
From dozing off
From seeing clearly-Then he'll remind me-
That one day we won't exist
That we only get one body
That we only get one true loveHe'll sit and hug me for hours
He'll sit as I write and play with my hair
He'll sit beside and wait till I take actionBut he takes it upon himself
To wade into the water
And be happy for both of us
And be happy in the moment
And to feel everything without feeling nothingWhy is he... Something I love-
Based on how close to love I was, and some memories that reminded me of him.
