The walk alone I cannot imagine.
it could have not even been called that.
The very people You came to die for,
Stood on in the crowd and laughed.
They spat and hurled insults at You.
But in all this You knew.
They nailed you down
Along with all the world's sin
and mine.
The sheer force of our inequities
Fell hard on You
But Your love held You up.
In all this You knew.
Even on the cross
Your punishment,
You still loved and saved
You gave the thief a chance
As You did me.
In all this You knew.
You asked the father to forgive us.
We were foolish
And unforgiving
We thought we had seen the light
But our eyes were clouded by the lusts of the earth
But in all this You knew.
In all this you knew,
You knew
One day I would stand
That I would proclaim you mine.
You never lost hope in me.
In all this You knew.
You knew my fire would burn
That I would fall many times
The wounds and the battle scars.
I would loose my first
But find my way back
Into Your unending love.
In all this You knew.
You knew from before creation began
That I would love You,
If only a fragment of how much
You love me.
From the time You said yes I will go.
To save them. To save us.
You knew of the pain, the hurt
The ridicule, the lives lost
The miracles, the betrayal
the battle,the temptations
And yet still You came
For a nobody like me.
And I am forever grateful.
And even now in this time.
You still know
And You will always know.
That I am yours and you are mine.
And that You have loved me since before time.
