Mai stepped outside the glass doors of Jin-Hee Trading Company and made her way to the black Sidan waiting for her. When she got into the car, her driver asked where they were headed,
"I need to speak with my husband at home. It's urgent."
Her tone held slight anxiety as the driver nodded and pulled away from the curb. As they drove, Mai pulled a .38 revolver out of her clutch purse and held it to the driver's skull,
"Who the hell are you? My driver never takes this route."
The man driving didn't answer. A hand appeared from the backseat passthru from the trunk. Mai felt someone grab her head from behind, holding her in place as a Chloroform rag was paced over her face covering her mouth. Once Mai was subdued and unconscious, the driver pulled into a vacant lot and removed her shoes before he exited the car and released the trunk for the other man. Mai was placed in the driver's seat and a pair of plain shoes were substituted for her color coordinated heels as a second car pulled into the lot. The two men entered the car and began driving away as one of them detonated the small bomb underneath the car, blowing it to oblivion and killing Mai. The car drove away on route to Mai's home. When they arrived, they left her shoes on the doorstep before ringing the doorbell. By the time her husband answered the door they were gone, leaving only her red Prada pumps behind. Before he could process what this meant, he noticed a small piece of paper stuffed into her left shoe. He carefully removed it and read the note left behind,
You couldn't protect her forever, Yun Jin-Hee
His heart clenched painfully as he opened the small black pouch attached to the note, only to find it filled with three melon seeds.
A/N: for those of you who might not know this, receiving a pair of shoes In the Korean culture is a sign that your significant other will leave you or desert you. The melon seeds were used as omens of death in many ancient cultures and cults. Anyone who received them was destined to die.
