Crumpled paper littered the space in his desk, a groan of frustration coming out as the dusky maned man attempted to write something and stop when the words didn't satisfy him.
Sebastian had been at it for nearly three hours and the growing frustration was making it harder for him to concentrate. Giving up on his pen and notepad, he fired up his laptop and decided to mindlessly browse the internet, hoping for some inspiration to come by.
"Let's see what we'll find here," he muttered to himself as he typed in "writing a screenplay" in the Google search field. A stream of well-known writers came up top, James Cameron and Nora Ephron included. He chuckled at the picture of the latter.
"Damn you Nora, I wanted to be in your movies then you had to die out on me."
Clicking on the first link about how to write a screenplay, he exited out of it as soon as he saw the contents.
"Oh for fuck's sake," he nearly screamed out. Seb didn't need another lecture-y type of stuff to read. He needed something else. Out of desperation, he furiously typed in another search term.
"Sebastian Stan stories"
He had to grin at himself after pressing enter as the results trickled out. It may be a little narcissistic for his liking, but he was running out of options, and now almost in his late 30s , in between acting jobs and living alone, he didn't have too much.
What he did have too much of though at the moment is time. And in a moment of spontaneous insanity tinged with a hint of desperation, he clicked on a story link and began reading.
"...but that's it, Seb! You think you did, but you haven't changed one tiny bit at all!"
Sebastian came after her, calling her name, begging her to stay, begging for another chance, but when she didn't even so much as look back, his knees gave way under him, causing him to lean on a lightpost.
He thought he did everything he could to get his life back. To get the only woman he ever loved. Apparently, everything still wasn't enough.
Sebastian had been reading for a good twenty minutes, time he didn't notice pass by. A shiver kept creeping up his skin as he read the story, too fazed by the eerie similarities his fictional and real life self shared. It almost felt like the person who wrote the story had a camera that captured every single moment of his life as a struggling actor to where he is now.
Having grown up most of his life without a father and bouncing from one place to the next, he had never known stability until his mother remarried and they had to move to America. Vividly remembering watching River Phoenix's movies, he decided he would become an actor like the guy with the shoulder length brown hair and broody brown eyes, dreaming of the day his mother didn't have to work and enjoy every possible luxury in life can offer.
It wasn't the easiest road, as one disappointment led to another. He even considered drugs at one point to numb the pain of failure, but then remembering how his mother fought for the freedom they enjoyed, he realized he had to keep going to be able to dedicate his success to her.
And succeed he did. After landing several high profile roles in the TV series Gossip Girl and the movie The Covenant, he knew his star was on the rise and kept pushing and pushing until Marvel Studios asked him to audition as the Winter Soldier when the Captain America role went to Chris Evans. The next several years proved to be kind to him, as he became a household name, even getting his own Winter Soldier origin movie, further cementing his status as one of Hollywood's golden men.
But fame had become a fleeting notion for Sebastian as he reached his thirties. It didn't help that he was out of work at the moment, having just finished a movie in December. He decided to take some writing classes at a local community college, hoping he could finally create a screenplay that could someday be brought to life on screen. But to his dismay, three months in, and he couldn't even formulate a semi-decent plot. Leading him to what he was doing now, reading fan fiction stories about himself that was too close to what happened to him in real life.
He again groaned upon finding that there were no new updates on the story. You're pathetic, Stan, he told himself as he flipped the laptop shut and got himself a drink.
