Chapter 8: Beautiful voice

It was the afternoon.

You sat at the edge of the running river, petting Boulder's head as he rested on top of your lap. Today was a boring day, you could only stare off into the river that reflected your facial expression. 

Friend was off somewhere, doing who knows what. Boulder was the only one keeping you company, so you thought one thing you could do while being alone.

I've been waiting for so long~
You began to sing a song that you and Skout would sing from time to time, it was the only song you knew from heart.

Boulder opened his eyes and stared up at you as you sang.

Friend was walking towards the river to feed the light gray hippos, but stopped when he heard your voice, it sounded so... 'Beautiful'

He stayed where he stood as he listened.

Thinking that Boulder was the only one listening to you, you began to sing louder when you had reached the 'ooh's' of the song.

You finished and smiled to yourself, until you heard clapping, Boulder pointed and you turned to see Friend clapping. "I-i didn't know you were listening", you rubbed the back of your neck nervously, blushing.
He pointed at you and gave a thumbs up, indicating that you sounded good, "Oh, thanks, Friend"

Again, if Boulder had a mouth he would've been smirking.

As it was getting late, all three of you headed back to the cabin. Once you all arrived you flopped down onto the bed, Friend placed the cover on top of you and fluffed up the pillow for you, you smiled at him.

"Well, goodnight Friend", you yawned, Boulder let out a small squeak of a yawn as well, he nestled next to you and closed his eyes.

Friend looked at you for a short minute after you closed your eyes, he let out an inaudible sigh, and looked at the lit fire.

Let's just say that Boulder had met some new friends today.
