Keeping the promise

Maine tumse waada kiya tha na ki main tumse bahut dur chali jaaunga ,be happy because I'm keeping that promise now.I am going forever from you,from everything that associates me with you,from Mumbai forever.Kabhi waapas nahi aaunga,kabhi nahi, Neil said in a broken voice.

His eyes were all red clearly depicting the feelings of pain and deceit that were located deep inside the heart,yet trying to come out of his mind each second through his words and actions.

Glancing at Avni for one last time,Neil started walking taking quick strides.He noted in his mind not to turn back and look at her as looking at her for even a second will make him lose all his self control,only to fall down before her,weak in his knees,crying out loud to the world the pain that he had to go through in these ten years,without her to support him,to care for him and to console him.

"Neil"! Avni called out to him ,stopping him right there.

He didn't know why he stopped after listening to her calling him.

Did she still affect him?Did he still care for her?

No way,him and caring for her ,no that will not happen ever again.How on earth is that possible again?.

He mentally chided himself by saying that he had only stopped as he sensed an immediate urgency in her voice.

Before Neil could turn around to face Avni,she had already held onto his right arm,making him close his fists in anger.

What do you want?, he asked angrily with blood shot eyes in a rough and stern voice.

Without even uttering a single word ,she just hugged him tightly with her hands clutched tightly onto his waist,dripping his shirt wet with her endless amount of tears.Neil for a second forgot the pain that her actions had inflicted on his soul.He just couldn't afford to see her tears.It literally broke him into a million pieces.But maintaining his composure Neil managed to push back Avni without hurting her or making her fall down.

Avni was not shocked when Neil just pushed her away.She had rather expected something more grave than this.

I know Neil that you will never be able to forgive me ,but please dont hate me,she said pleading to him with her heads bowed down and a gush of tears flowing through her eyes.

Neil Khanna can never hate his wife but he definitely has his reasons to hate Neilanjana,he said looking sideways.

I hope that we never cross ways again because if that ever happens then you will never be able to get "peace",he said stressing on the word peace and uttering the sentence with a fake smile adorning his face.

Avni turned her head to look at Neil who was still standing stiff with his arms crossed over his body.

She still didn't have the courage to look into his eyes and ask him to stay back.

Neil understood that standing there further was of not use.He slowly walked towards the car where KK was already seated without even turning back for even a second.

Avni was broken.Her Neil was going away from her forever ,the soul reason being her creating a death drama before him,cheating him throughout these 10 years.

She had broken his heart into a million pieces that could never be mended due to the constant daggers that she had shooted rightly onto his heart.

As she stood there helpless,losing even the right to call him back, he reversed the car only to fade away from her slowly into the darkness to never return back to her.

As soon as the car left from her eyesight,Avni ran inside the sukoon house with teary eyes.The children were observing their jaan didi carefully and didn't possiblly understand why their Jaan didi had cried all of a sudden.

Before anyone could ask anything Avni ran to her room, closing the door behind her in a loud thud.

Sunehri,Tara and Sitara had a slight idea regarding the situation as they were sure that Avni's this condition definitely had something to do with Neil.But they thought not to disturb Avni at that moment as it was necessary to give some alone time for her.

In Avni's room

As soon as she closed the door behind her,Avni fell onto the floor, resting her head on the bed with her knees folded and hands woven around her knees.Her eyes were bloody red and tears dried in such a way that she couldn't cry anymore.She leaned herself more to her knees ,gently closing her eyes and remembering all the moments she spent with Neil beginning from their first meet on the cliff.

Why did you do this to me god?Why? I was never meant to be born in this world.I dont know what is the sin that I have committed that all my loved ones are going away from me.Ayesha maa,Neela maa,Aman and now.....

She couldnt complete her sentence as her throat got dry and words failed to come out of her mouth.

Before she could think more,she had already fallen asleep in that position,her thoughts fully immersed in her Neil for whom she was doing all this.

Meanwhile KK and Neil were driving back to KK's apartment.Neil was silent all through the journey and KK didn't mind to disturb him.But he just couldn't stop himself from asking one question to Neil.

Bro,you knew Neilanjana already, KK asked with his never ending curiosity.

Neil didn't know how he should answer that question.But he thought to give an answer because otherwise it would raise seeds of doubt in KK's mind.

Nahi,I saw her only when I came in search of you, he said his face still gazing onto the road.

Hmm , KK mumbled still not feeling Neil's answer to be satisfactory.

KK thought to leave the conversation for a while seeing Neil disturbed.

While Neil continued to drive with a much ending tension and anger visible on his face, Avni was sleeping ,tired of worrying on the other end.
