Chapter 2: A New Mystery

Dipper woke up confused and started to panic when he realized that he wasn't in the shack but relaxed when memories from the day before rushed back to him.

  'I need to get back to the shack! Mabel must be worried sick about me!'

 He sat up and stretched before looking over to see the creature or girl from before sleeping. 'How does she sleep so much? I mean it is really comfortable here, she must just like relaxing here. I wonder if she lives in this place no Dipper stop focus you have to get back to the shack' 

Dipper's thoughts stopped and he bent to grab his journal careful not to wake her up he left the grove. 

'Now how do I get back to the shack' Dipper facepalmed when he realized he had no idea of where he was or where shack was. 'Well I'll just go back the way I came that should get me somewhere' Dipper then started his long trek down the path and hopefully to the  shack.

( At the Mystery Shack)

Mabel and her uncles got up none of them really getting any sleep from worrying about Dipper. They had a small breakfast and got dressed, when they got outside the sun had already risen. Mabel chewed worriedly at her bottom lip while her grunkles started talking about how they should search for Dipper. After talking for a few minutes they walked over to Mabel telling her that they were going to search the forest and look at Dipper's favorite spots for him. 

 They looked around town and asked to see if anyone saw him . Ford had asked the gnomes if they had seen him and to his surprise they had. He quickly asked where they saw him and the gnomes told him that they just saw him. Shocked Ford quickly ran back through the woods contacting Stan to meet him at the shack. Ford looked up and saw Mabel panting and  hunched over looking like she ran all the way here. Stan arrived in his car and jumped out looking at Ford with confusion. 

" Stan, Mabel I ran into the gnomes and they saw Dipper in the woods earlier so lets hurry and go out there to get him" Ford said as he wiped sweat off his forehead. When no responses came and they were only staring behind him he turned around.

Dipper had managed to make his way back through the woods and saw the shack , he let out a sigh of relief before all the air was forced out of him as Mabel tightly hugged him. Dipper felt as if his bones were breaking from her hug wheezing out," Ma-Mabel... c-can't breathe ...." 

After hearing his words Mabel released him and Dipper coughed  getting air back into him. " Hey Mabel sorry I was out for so long I got caught up." Dipper said looking at the ground and looked up when he heard footsteps. Ford and Stan both let out a sigh of relief that the boy was okay and walked up to him ready to scold and question Dipper on what happened before they quickly pushed the kids inside.  He locked the door before walking into the living room and looked at Dipper who was sitting on the floor. 

"Alright bro-bro  you were gone all night where were you?" Mabel asked concern on her features Dipper looked at her shocked. " What! I was gone for the entire day and night I just thought it had been a few hours when I was there." Dipper said eyes wide. Dipper then started to ramble on about what happened and reached in his vest only to stop. 

Dipper began to look all over himself confusing the others in the room before he smacked his forehead. " Crap! I left my notebook at the place. "  Knowing what Dipper was going to do Stan spoke up. " Now before you go running off again Sixer and Mabel are going with you and you are going to take the walkie-talkies with you. I'll stay here we have a tour in a few hours and I need to get ready." Stan looked sternly at Ford," Don't worry Stan I'll keep an eye on them both and make sure they come home safe."
