Depth ~ Yoonkook

One ~

Jungkook was walking home from a long day of learning, mostly sitting in the library researching species behavior. Just like any day for him, it was interesting enough to keep him coming. Day and day again would Jungkook come to the library. He didnt go to school, he really couldnt with out any trace of a human degree. Or birth certificate as humans will. Sometimes the library workers would ask why he came so often and he just said college, even if the library was no where near a college. They didnt ask any other questions, which Jungkook was happy about.

Jungkook arrived at his destination. He stripped and set his clothes for later use in a chest hidden in a bunch of bushes. Jungkook looked around for any eyes, when he found none he jumped into the water. His natural home that always made him happy. The water, Jungkook's and many others pride and joy.

Jungkook's legs where replaced with a tail, a long and beautiful one. The skin over joints turned scaley, along with his neck. His necks skin folded into itself to reveal a nice pair of gills. His color palette consisted of peach and brown. He liked his colors, they suited him.

After Jungkook was done with that he headed to his real 'home'. Far down into the ocean, where no human could reach on their own. He swam past many brightley colored fish, mermaids couldnt talk to sea life but they definitely could feel the life. When he swam past, the fish werent disturbed. They welcomed the mermaid. Mermaids where friends with many ocean life, they where just so friendly and caring. When species where in trouble they helped out however they could. Jungkook was happy to be with the mermaids. Jungkook was happy where he was in life.

Jungkook was greated by his brother, well friend but they all consider them selves family in some way or another.

"Hey Jungkook! Just in time! Jin was about to lecture me and Tae about not going to far out of the perimeter." Jimin and Tae where always doing stupid things. Instead of helping Jin and Namjoon they always got themsleves into trouble. Jin got them out of trouble but scolded them mafter it. Everytime. And everytime Jungkook would be there just in time to get one of them out of the lecture.

Jungkook and Jimin swam back to the group. Everything was nice in Jungkook's life. He didn't think anything bad could happen anytime soon. Until they got back. Jin was pacing frantically in the water, his silver and blue tail pushing him back and forth. Jungkook had never seen him so, stressed.

"Are, are you okay Hyung?" Jungkook questioned, at first Jin didn't respond. He just put his head in his hands. "Hmm?" Jungkook tried again, putting his hand on Jin's shoulder to comfort the stressed mermaid. Jin shook his head, going to hug Jungkook. Jungkook let it happen of course and hugged him back.

Jimin went to question Taehyung. Taehyung was sitting on a rock, he was looking down miserably. Like a 5 year old did something he shouldnt have.

"Tae-Hyung what happened?" Jimin sat next to Tae. Jimin was a very emotional person, so his emotions where very much displayed on his face. He was incredibly worried, Jin hadn't acted like this in a long time. Jin didn't act like this for nothing.

"A families Alpha has gone missing, Jimin, this isnt okay." Taehyung was very serious, a side of himself he didnt show often. Still, Taehyung looked up at Jimin. His expression an act to make Jimin worry less. Of course he didnt, instead he hugged Taehyung. Jimin was most likley about to cry his eyes out.

An Alpha's absence in a family ment that the family was soon going to have to get a new Alpha. Most likley the most closest in the family, teamed up on the others, and fought for the family name. This happened quite often, the other mermaids that lost. Where made into fish food. They sank to the bottom of the ocean, the most scariest place anyone could go to. To feed the animals in the depths.

Then, the mermaids who wanted to be Alpha fought. And it was the same process for the loser. Other families that had been close to that family suffer emotionally. Their instincts turn to mush for a few days to weeks depending on the relationship. Mermaids where emotional and attached to a lot of other mermaids and species. Which, would obviously cause problems.

"It will be okay Hyung, everything will be alright." Jungkook was really worried for Jin. Namjoon was out on a mission with other families Alpha's. Namjoon was an Alpha, and Jin was Namjoon's mate. It was Jin's duty to be extremely worried. Jin nodded but then started to cry. All of this was a lot. From how happy everyone was yesterday to how sad everyone is today.

"Namjoon-Hyung is safe, I promise." Jungkook's encouraging words helped Jin stand up straight.

"I'll be fine now, dont worry. I just need some time alone, please stay safe." Jin said, rubbing at his nose. He then swam off to his place, a cave that him and Namjoon shared. When Jungkook had been in it wasn't that big but still spacious to stay in for a long time.

Jungkook was normally the one who kept everyone in check after Namjoon. Even if he was the youngest, he had a good control over his emotions.

"Guys, it will be fine." Jungkook swam infront of the now sobbing Jimin and the comforting Taehyung. Taehyung was Jimin's rock in many situations. A shoulder for him to cry on, and Taehyung was just fine with it.

"I know, just give us some time. Not all of us can stand tall in these situations." Taehyung said a bit sharply. Jungkook brushed it off. Somtimes sadness was replaced with anger, so Jungkook understood.

Jungkook swam off to get some time alone. He knew a place that was secluded and safe. One that he stayed in when his emotions where to hard to handle, he could go and rest there. Away from the ones who didnt understand him.

Jungkook arrived at his normal spot. He felt like sobbing, telling someone he wasnt okay. That would ruin his image, so he didnt. He just layed there on his rock. Not one tear left his eyes. When mermaids got sad, their colors faded. Jungkook looked like he was rusting when he felt horrible, and that just made him feel worse. So he didnt look himself at the surface of the water. He just jumped in.

After awhile, Jungkook got restless. He had taken a nap and wanted to do something more. His tail started to flick in the water, wanted to get up and move through the water. He sometimes thought of his tail as a cats tail. He sometimes giggled at it, but all he could do now was grin before he needed to get up and move.

Jungkook got up with a bit of lag, he wasnt one to get up fast and easy after a nap. He got jet lag. So he started to slowly swim off into the dark abyss that was his little hut of sadness.

Jungkook was now moving swiftley when he felt something brush past his tail. He looked down to see kelp. A deep blue kelp with silver undertones. Jungkook had never seen this before so he bent down to touch it when something swiftly clawed at his tail. Jungkook's eyes widened, underneath the kelp was a pair of.... Snake eyes? Jungkook was too shocked to move, but his instincts took over him in time to move up through water. His tail started to ache, he realized the snake had cut through his scales. As said before, when mermaids are in a depressed state. Their instincts go out of wack.

Jungkook couldn't move fast from the injury so he had to slow down. That gave enough time for the Snake to jump up through the kelp to lock into his tail and start pulling him down. Jungkook couldnt scream, you just cant scream underwater. So instead he pleaded whatever god that was up there to be alive.

Jungkooks eyes shot to the Snake that was pulling him down, instead he saw the most beautiful creature. A mermaid? It just couldnt be one. The mermaid was alone, right? Why would they attack another mermaid? Jungkook just couldnt focuse on his questions when he started to analyze this creature. The creature had a tuff of silver hair and blue skin that was quickly changing into a pale veiny color. Their eyes where slits like a snakes but the color was the most vibrant blue Jungkook had ever seen.

But before Jungkook could see anymore of the creature a kelp weed wraped around his neck. More soon started to wrap around his wrists. Jungkook couldnt help but black out with the lack of oxygen. The creature sniffled a tisk before the kelp let go of his neck but not his wrists. Jungkook was dragged into the creatures kelp forest.
