After spending some time at the Italian ice place, Skyla and I headed to the mall. Normally I wouldn't go, but she really wanted something from this weird Tea store and I couldn't refuse those puppy dog eyes. We wandered around for a bit, stopping in a few stores here and there before two o'clock rolled around.
We went our separate ways after arriving in our neighborhood. Walking up to my house, I noticed two cars parked in the driveway, neither belonging to my mother. Both rental cars. Ones a black car, the other a red SUV. They look brand new, meaning the people driving them must have asked specifically for new cars. Either germaphobes or just that petty. They must be rich; I don't know very much about cars, but I know an expensive one when I see it.
They didn't drive very far in them. The tread on the tires are practically brand new. They can't be from around here, my mother doesn't bother with many people. Or they got them from the airport; it's only thirty minutes from here. I shake my head and sigh. Sometimes I question my thought process.
I pull my key out from my pocket and unlock the door. I'm not surprised to see people, but I am surprised at how many there are. Six people in total, four men and two women. They all look pretty snazzy. One of them looks like a guard of some sort, he even has one of those weird curly wires in his ears. Two of them are brothers, that I know.
A normal person wouldn't be able to tell, but I can. The way they hold themselves and the looks they give each other just screams family. The sibling rivalry is strong with these two. The only way I can describe the fourth guy is 'dad'. I don't know, he just looks like a dad. He's got that dad look with the intimidating stance, but sunny eyes and a smile that say 'everything is alright'. One woman, a blond, is very close to him. Wedding rings; They're definitely married. Or engaged.
I really don't know the difference between the two types of rings; They all look the same to me. I can tell its to each other because the rings match, though the close proximity of the two was a dead give away. The last lady is on her phone. I don't even think she realizes I'm here. She looks like a secretary of some sort, probably to the well dressed man sitting next to her. The one that's the brother of the one with the curly black hair. Speaking of the Devil, he looks me up and down and smirks.
"She's deducing us." Deducing? What the hell is that?
"Who are you again? Because I don't remember my mother having any friends," I look over at my nervous mother and apologize.
"No offence, ma."
She shift nervously, not making eye contact. Now that I think of it, she hasn't looked up at all.
"This is going to be hard for you to take in." The well dressed man says, looking in my direction. I furrow my brows and cross my arms.
"What, exactly? Mom, what's going on?" I turn to her, wanting her to answer my questions.
"Who are these people?" I ask. She shrinks into herself even more and grabs tight to her pants. The man with the curly black hair clears his throat to get my attention away from my mother.
"I am your biological father. I'm taking you back to London with me." What?!
"Woah, woah, woah, I ain't going nowhere with nobody!" I shout, tossing my bag to the floor.
"First of all, you have no right to walk up in here and try to take me. Second, I know who my biological father is, and you are most certainly NOT him." 'Father' was going to speak, but Dad man put his hand out and stepped toward me, giving him a glare.
"I know this may seem unreal to you-"
"Oh, it's more than 'unreal'. It's down right impossible!" He takes in a deep breath and sighs.
