It was silent on the night of November 3rd - everybody in Ardara had gone to sleep or were preparing to.
However, the Bell family weren't as lucky in the peace department.
Of course Cyrus and Marissa Bell longed for quietude, but their two daughters were making sure they wouldn't have it.Katie Bell had been the troublemaker of both Ida and her infancies, and now in her toddler years, she apt at causing chaos.
The Bell parents had wrongly believed that their youngest daughter, Ida, would be less of a handful. Katie must have taken all the mischief... right?
Wrong.
Ida Bell was almost as exceptional at raising havoc, despite being a year younger. Her specialty was wailing and despairing until the early hours of the morning, leaving Cyrus Marissa sleep-deprived and irritated.
Of course, the siblings had rightfully earned the nickname the Mayhem Sisters.
While Katie was small, the havoc she could wreak could be a good comparison to a dinosaur living in a studio apartment.Even though Ida and Katie's parents had attended countless parenting lessons (when to get your child to sleep, how to get a good sleep yourself) it was always a mission proved fruitless.
Even worse, eight at night was the most hyperactive the sisters were at. Cyrus and Marissa had desperately attempted to avoid that period, but that night they had failed. The pair had been so enraptured in a recent French film, that they had completely lost track of the time.
Now they had to face the music.↜↭↝
"NO BED!" KATIE squealed stubbornly, stomping her foot against the hardwood floor. Ida joined in the cry of protest, and wobbled to her feet.
"Come on girls, be reasonable." Cyrus coaxed exhaustedly, the bags under his eyes prominent against his pale skin.
"No bed!" Katie repeated furiously, Ida echoing her words with just as much emotion."Looks like we'll have to carry you to bed." Marissa mumbled, before grabbing Ida, who had made a mad dash for the door.
"No!" Ida screeched, flailing about. Marissa carried on determinedly, clothing the toddler and marching straight towards the cot that Ida so passionately loathed.Cyrus grappled with a defiant Katie, who resulted to kicking him a multitude of times.
Setting Katie down in her small bed, Cyrus draped the blanket over her, and Katie's loud shriek of rebellion swiftly transitioned to a large yawn.
"Want... bear..." Katie murmured, growing drowsy."Not tonight, Katie Critter." Cyrus shook his head.
However, the refusal of giving Katie her stuffed toy angered her once more. And with that burst of frustration, the plush bear soared off of the shelf, and flew straight into her arms. This time, Cyrus was the one that screeched. Jumping up from his crouched position, his wild gaze swept around the room, and finally he met eyes with a shocked Marissa.
"W-What..." Marissa uttered, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Ida slapped her mother's shoulder repeatedly, annoyed that the attention was off her. Marissa stood up hastily, backing away and gripping Cyrus's arm."Mama!" Ida squeaked, her tiny hands gripping the sides of the cot.
"It's okay, Ids..." Cyrus stuttered, his eyes shifting from Marissa to Ida and then resting on an upset Katie.
"MAMA!" Ida wailed again, terrifying Marissa when Ida's blankets flew from the cot."What is h-happening to our children?" She whispered, her voice trembling with raw fear. Cyrus pulled her close.
"Get them to sleep, they won't hurt anyone when they're asleep."
