Ida's gaze was filled with wonder as she glanced around the crowded Diagon Alley. She glanced at Andromeda, who smiled enthusiastically at her.
"Do you want to get your wand first?"Ida nodded vigorously as Andromeda took her hand and guided her through the throng of witches and wizards.
"There!" Ida pointed at a sign with 'Ollivanders' scrawled onto it.
Andromeda chuckled at the girl's excitement, and they entered the shop.Considering they had arrived early to Diagon Alley, it was surprising to see there were at least five other people waiting in line.
Andromeda has offered to take Ida somewhere else, instead of waiting, but she insisted she wanted to stay ('to prepare myself', was her answer).A couple of explosions and wands later, Ida found herself at the front of the line, nerves brewing in her stomach.
A knowing smile grew on Ollivander's (the apparent wandmaker in Diagon Alley) face.
"Ah, another Bell! Delightful!" He said kindly.
Ida's lips twitched, and she bit back a grin."Do you know how Katie is? She came in here last year for her wand and demanded to see the back room. I believe she has the spirit of a potential worker in wands." Ollivander barely paused to take a breath.
Ida gazed, overwhelmed, towards Andromeda.Andromeda placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, before speaking.
"Actually, we don't, she's already at Hogwarts I presume. Ida will see her soon, though."She answered, a firm note lacing her voice.
Ollivander seemed to take the hint, and made himself busy with finding a wand."The core of this wand is very popular in the Bell bloodlines - I remember your grandmother coming in for her wand." Ollivander's silvery eyes clouded with memory, before he caught himself and returned to reality.
"Ten inches, dragon heartstring, hawthorn and quite flexible. Give it a wave, will you?"Ida timidly took the wand from him and waved it in a small circle.
"More than that, Ida! You have an arm, do you not?" Ollivander exclaimed, Ida took the advice and waved it like a madwoman.
A loud BANG erupted from the wand, and a lamp that was perched on a coffee table, shattered into pieces.Ida covered her mouth with her free hand, guilt washing over her.
"Oh I'm so sorry, Mr. Ollivander!" She cried out, humiliated. Ollivander, to her shock, laughed.
"Don't be so distraught, we can fix this in an instant!" He reassured, before muttering something. The broken lamp immediately began to repair, and Ida could do nothing but stare."Now, back to wands." Ollivander clapped his hands, before taking the one in Ida's hand and reaching for another.
"Twelve inches, applewood and unicorn hair, it's quite rigid." He said, and passed her the wand.
Ida shakily took it from his hand and waved it.A flurry of golden sparks erupted from the tip, and Ida's jaw dropped in awe. She giggled when she regained her voice, amazed.
"There's no doubt about it," Ollivander said as took the wand from he and placed it next to him, "the wand chose you, Miss Bell.""The wand chose me?" Ida murmured, as Andromeda placed the money in Ollivander's hand.
"Well of course," Ollivander handed the wand back over to Ida, "the wand always chooses the wizard."(WILL BE EDITED IN THE NEAR FUTURE)
