Ming's POV
I couldn't sleep.
Kit was already sleeping, cutely snoring his head resting on my chest. I bushed his hair with my fingers, twirling the strands around them. He was breathing so calmly.
But I couldn't. Even if his calm being was soothing me a little, calming me, his mother gave me the chills. Kit has told me about his mother, how cold she is. And she threatened to put Kit into a mental hospital. She threatened to take him away from me. And I can't let her do that. So the things she is going to ask me will define our future. So, I need to answer them correctly and professionally, or she will found out about us, and take him away from me.

It was 12.45. Kit said that her mother will be here at 1pm, and that she is always precise with the time.
Both of us removed our engagement rings. Her mother has hawk-eyes, and she is not stupid, so we decided that it was for the best.
Kit couldn't keep himself still. He wondered around the house and tried to clean. Even tho everything was as clean as it could be. And when I tried to say that his cleaning was useless, he looked at me with a stare that could've killed me then and there.
The doorbell rang.
Kit jumped a little. He turned pale, but started to walk to the door and opened it.
"H-Hi mom." His nervousness is clearly heard from his voice.
"Kit," his mother nodded and stepped inside. She was quite beautiful...
She had dimples too, but they were just seen when she spoke, and even then they were light. Maybe if she would smile, they would show like Kit's, but I can clearly see that she isn't much of a smiler.
Her skin was smooth and white, not much grievances.
Collarbone length hair, light brown. Straightened, looking formal.
She was wearing black pantyhose, red tunic that looked like some kind of a dress, black ballerina shoes. Quite basic, but on her it looked gorgeous.
"And you are?" She stepped in front of me. I'm sure my heart is thumping like it never did before. I can also see Kit's expression over her mother's shoulder. He was sweating.
"Ming. Mingkwan." I introduced myself.
"Oh... That kid..." Her expression stiffened. She remembered me. I paid few visits in their house when we were little.
"You haven't been around for quite sometime." She said.
"Yeah... I was studying in America, but I've been back for weeks already."
"Oh... Is that so? Kit, could you leave us for a moment?" She asked without taking her eyes off of me.
"Yeah... I guess..." Kit said and walked to the kitchen.
We actually trained this conversation with Kit yesterday. He asked me questions that her mother most likely will ask me. Overreacting I know... but necessary. And we also trained to be 'just friends'. It hard, but it worked out.
"How long have you been planning this moving together thing?" She started to question me.
"Since I came back here in Thailand."
"Why now?"
"Because we have planned this before, but as a joke really. And now it felt like a good idea, and it is. I have money so it's quite easy too."
"Why together?"
"We are good friends, so we get along just fine."
"You wouldn't lie to me, would you? I can't stand when people lie to me."
"Nooo, no no, I would never do that." Shit shit shit.
"You date someone?"
"No, but I'm gay so don't worry."
"You're gay huh...? Tell me how it works."
This was not one of the questions we trained with Kit.
"Well... I just, like guys...? It's kinda like one of those girl-groups that you see hanging around in town. In groups where you have your good friends, you can open up to them and they will understand. Well, you know, it's like when girls trusts each other more than everything, it's same with guys. Girls know what girls like, and guys know what guys like. It's that simple."
"You know that that doesn't make any sense don't ya?"
"Yeah... But that's the best I can explain it."
"I see."
"Mother..." Kit interrupted our conversation. Thank God for that! "I made coffee."
"Yeah, I think we are done here anyways." She said and glanced me one last time before going to the kitchen.
Kit stayed at the door waiting for me. "What did she ask?"
"Kit, honey, your mother is a weird person." That's the all I can say. I mean, who asks a question like the last one she asked?
*
The gathering in the kitchen was awkward.
There wasn't much talking. She sometimes asked something like about the household and jobs and stuff.
I held Kit's hand under the table. He was shivering from his mothers presence, and I just couldn't leave him there trembling. I know that we weren't supposed to show any kinds of affection between us, but this was something her mother, who I learned was named Tida, couldn't possibly see.
"I think it's time for me to leave." Tida said.
We both were trying to held our breaths not to sigh in relief.
We walked her to the door, but she didn't look like she was going anywhere.
"Mother... weren't you supposed to... leave?" Kit voiced out.
"You've been lying to me." She said to both of us. At least I think so.
"W-what do you mean?" Kit asked. I think it's just better for me to shut up.
"You can't keep anything from me Kittinan." Her voice was back being cold. She let it get soft in one point, but it was just a millisecond.
Kit gasped.
Tida crossed her slim arms over her chest and looked straightly into my eyes. Her eyes were cold as ice.
"I know that you are together, and engaged."
Fuck.
