Suitcase had spent almost her entire life living in her own mind, oblivious to the real world. Now that she's in middle school, she is forced to leave her world of sparkles and butterflies, and learn how to survive in reality.
Balloon used to be a bossy, manipulative bully in sixth grade, but things took a huge turn over the summer vacation. He is now the lonely outcast in seventh grade, desperately searching for expectance in his schoolmates.
Nickel is sarcastic, grumpy and pessimistic. In other words, he is just negative. He sees the worst in everybody, especially Balloon, and would try to find something wrong with a person their flaws aren't so visible.
Baseball is a born leader, trustworthy and courageous, but his leadership seems to be wasted as the ones he tries to lead are always the wrong people. He is full of responsibility and does his best anyway.
Suitcase is her own star. Balloon's star is near-death. Nickel and Baseball, being best friends, share a star together. When the new school year starts at Insanity Prep, the stars collide and form brand-new neutron star.
