Audrey.
I haven't talked to Jacob since he yelled at me yesterday. I heard a knock on my door. "Audrey? Are you in there?" It was Jacob. "What do you want?" I asked. He opened my door. "You're really gonna ignore me because of what I said?" he asked. I didn't answer him. He sighed and walked towards me. I got off my bed. "Don't get close to me" I said. He walked closer. I backed away.
"Stop" I said. I ended up backing up into my dresser. He was standing right in front of me. "Can you back up?" I asked. He looked at my lips, then back into my eyes. "Jake .." He leaned towards me. "Stop!" I pushed him away. "What the fuck is your problem?" he furrowed his eyebrows.
"You're my problem. You think that you can just kiss me and everything's gonna be okay?! Well, guess what, you thought wrong! Get out of my room" I pointed to the door. "Audrey please-"
"Out. Right now"
"I'm sorry-"
"Leave!" I felt tears forming in my eyes. Why the hell am I crying?
"Don't cry" he said. Him saying that, made it worse. I wiped my eyes. But, then I started crying harder. I felt him wrap his arms around me. "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean what I said. I was just .. upset. And I shouldn't have taken it out on you" he said. Him apologizing made me feel a little better. But, I was still crying. He rubbed my back and started swaying me slowly from side to side.
"You know I love you right? You're my best friend" he said.
I nodded. "I love you too" I said, softly.
~
"So .. you got in a fight over me?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. He nodded. "Basically." I laughed and shook my head. "What's funny?" he asked. "Why were you fighting over me?" I asked. "Well .. I mean .. you're my best friend. And I have to protect you. You're like my little sister. I don't want you to make a mistake"
"Everybody makes mistakes, Jacob. I would just have to learn from them"
"Yeah, but .. sometimes learning from mistakes can break your heart. I don't wanna see you crying" he said.
I smiled. "I can take care of myself Jake. I'm old enough. But, thanks for looking out" I said. I got off of my bed and went downstairs.
Jacob.
I sighed and followed her downstairs. "You're not understanding. I know you like Chresanto" I said. "What gave you that idea?" she asked. "You always smile around him. And .. he always makes you laugh" I said. She rolled her eyes. "Even if I did, what does that have to do with anything?" She asked.
"He's not good for you"
"Says who?"
"Every girl that's been with him"
"Just because it went wrong with them, doesn't mean it'll go wrong with me" she said.
"That's exactly what it means!"
She sighed. "Jake .. you're not keeping me away from him. You should be happy I like him. I was happy for you when you liked that girl last year"
"But she was a mistake. Just like Chres is. You can't be with him. Trust me, you'll regret it"
"Why can't you just be happy for me?" her eyebrows furrowed. "I don't care if you think he's a mistake. I like him. I think he's funny. And sweet. If this is a mistake, then let me figure that out on my own"
"Audrey, I'm trying to help you. Just listen -"
"Jacob .. You're not gonna be there for me all the time. I do have a brain, you know"
