Audrey.

I fluttered my eyes open. I sighed and stretched myself out. Then I sat up. I looked for my phone. My head turned to the coffee table. My phone was there. But, under it was an envelope.

I furrowed my eyebrows. I pulled it from underneath my phone. On the front, it said: Audrey. The letters were in cursive. I slightly smiled. Then, I tore it open. It was a letter. Not surprising.

Dear Audrey ..

I'm really sorry about how I've acted and .. what I did to you. I know I sorta bruised you up.

I stopped reading and scoffed. "Sorta?"

Well, not sorta. It was pretty bad. But, anyways, I know you're probably reading this, thinking what the actual fuck. This child has lost his mind. He's gone from faggot to fruity faggot. Yeah, I agree. I don't write letters to people. It's lame as fuck. But, you're lucky I like you. Cus, otherwise I wouldn't have wrote this shit.

I laughed.

But, yeah. Like I said, I truly am sorry. I even made you dinner. Your favorite. It's in the microwave if you want it. Just to prove a point. If you don't hate me still, you can knock on my door at any time. But, if you do ... Ignore me for however long you want. I understand.

Jacob.

I sighed. "Dammit, Jake. You and your words."

~

I took a deep breath and softly knocked on his door. "Jacob?" I said his name. "I just want you to know ... I don't hate you. I could never. It's just .. sometimes you're too over protective. I know how to take care of myself. I just wish you'd see that. I know you ... just want the best for me. I get that. But .. " I sighed.

There was complete silence. "Jake?" I pushed his door open. He was asleep. I smiled. I walked towards him and kissed him on the cheek. Then I stared at him for awhile. He was so cute while he was sleeping.

Wait, what?

What am I saying?

I left his room.

Jacob.

After I heard her close my door, I opened my eyes. Then, I felt my cheek and smiled. Oh yeah. She's definitely into me. I got up and opened my door. Then, I peeked my head out.

I saw her go across the hall into her room. I left my room and made my way to hers. I started to knock on her door. But, I stopped myself. What if she really does hate me?

What if she knew I was awake the whole time and was just messing with my head? Ugh. I looked at her door.

I wanted to knock. I just .. I couldn't. What's wrong with me? Then, suddenly, her door opened. I gasped and looked at her. She smiled. "Jake" she said my name.

"Audrey, I .. I'm s-" she cut me off with a very unexpected hug. I hugged her back and smiled. "I .. forgive you" she said. Then, we parted. "And thanks for making me dinner. That's really ... sweet" she said.

"No problem. It's the least I could do since I um .." I paused and glanced at her arm.

She covered it up. " ... Yeah ..." I trailed off. After a moment of silence, she said "Chres saw it. And he asked me who did it"

I felt my heart jump out of my chest. If Chres found out I did that, he would hunt me down and beat my ass. I could try to defend myself. But it would get me absolutely nowhere.

"Did you ... tell him?" I asked.

She shook her head. "I don't want him to hurt you." She placed her hand on the side of my face and slightly smiled. "I love you" she said. I rose my eyebrows. "You .. what?"

I heard snapping. "Jacob!" I flinched. Oh great. I was daydreaming. "Uh .. sorry. What did you say?"

"I said I didn't tell him. I can't" she said.

"Why not?"

"Because if I do, he'll destroy you! Literally. I like Chres and all, but you're my best friend. I don't need you in the hospital too" she said.

I held my head down. "It shouldn't even matter to you" I said. "What?"

I looked up at her. "I deserve it. I shouldn't have handled you like that ... Maybe, if I'm lucky, he'll kill me."

She started laughing and playfully hit my shoulder. Then, she looked at me and noticed I wasn't kidding. "Oh. You're .. serious" she said.

I nodded. She furrowed her eyebrows. "Since when .. do you wish you were dead?" she asked.

"Since I found out the girl I like doesn't feel the same way. She likes someone else" I said. "Really? You'd kill yourself over something that stupid?" she asked.

"It's not stupid"

"It's very stupid. In fact, it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard"

"You wouldn't understand. You have boys flocking to you all the time" I said.

She didn't reply. Then, there was silence. She cleared her throat. "So .. this girl ... Do I know her?"

I looked at her. "..... No" I said. "Are you sure?" she asked. "I'm positive. She's nothing like you. She actually listens to me" I said.

Audrey.

"I listen to you" I said. He chuckled. "If that was true, you wouldn't be hooking up with Chresanto" he said.

I scoffed. "Here we go again. Why the fuck does it matter?! What, are you jealous or something?"

He shook his head. "It doesn't matter. You won't hear me out anyway"

"Jake, just answer the question"

He sighed. "Yea .... I am. A little"

She laughed. "You LIVE with me. You're my best friend. There's no reason you should be jealous"

"You like him"

"So what?"

"So what?! I like you too. But, apparently, you don't notice"

"You don't like me" she chuckled.

He sighed, then started to leave. "No, stop" I grabbed his arm. He turned back. I sighed. "I'm sorry. I didn't know" I said.

"You didn't know?! Yesterday, I tried to kiss you. Then on top of that, I told you I liked your ass. And then, I came up and kissed you on the cheek"

"Well, you're always playing around. I never take you seriously"

I gave her a bland look. "Don't look at me like that. You know it's true"

"Whatever. All you had to say was I don't like you, Jacob. Could've saved me the trouble" he said. Then, he started to go downstairs. "Jake" I called his name and followed him.

He unlocked the front door.

"Where are you going?" I asked. He started to turn the knob. But, then he stopped and looked back at me.

"Don't leave. I'm tired of losing people close to me"

It looked like he was thinking. He looked down at the floor. "Apparently, I'm not that close" he said. Then, he looked back up and opened the door. "See you in the morning" he said.

What? He has no where to go. I ran to the door and opened it again. I looked around. He was gone.

How'd he ... He was just ...

I groaned and slammed the door.

Some friend.
