Your New Apartment
State of Mind: Tired,
Numb

(A/N: keep in mind i wrote this when i was 12 and the whole story is just a hot mess.)
I was in the car with my terrible excuse of an uncle. I hate him, I always have. But, I always did everything he asked, and as long as I did just that he'd leave me alone... for the most part. We finally got to our new apartment building, and it was actually decent. On the outside at least.
"Get out. I want the boxes in the apartment by the time I get back from the grocery store," he sternly said, and I nodded.
I took the boxes out of the car and he drove off as soon as I finished. I groaned and took the boxes upstairs. I was carrying a box of my bedroom stuff, and-
"BAM!"
I bumped into someone and I almost tumbled down the steps until I caught my balance.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" I said. "It's alright," the girl said. "I should have looked where I was going." She laughed nervously and started to help me clean up my clothes.
"Want me to help you with the rest of the stuff?" She asked and I gave a light nod.
"Yeah, that would be great." I stated, smiling lightly. Soon before my uncle arrived back at home, everything was put away and the boxes were out front by the trash.
"I'm Beverly by the way," She said holding out her hand. "Y/N," I said shaking it. "Thanks for helping me out. It means a lot.
"Hey, it's no problem.I'll see you later, Y/N," Beverly said as she left my living area.Thankfully we were only a few rooms down from one another, so I could ask her for help at anytime. At least, if she didn't mind.
I was sitting on my bed, reading The Outsiders. I had gotten half way through the book and my uncle came upstairs.
"Did you get all of the boxes?" He asked, and I gave a light nod, not taking my eyes off the page. "How did you get everything up here so fast?" He asked again. "I had help," I said happily, running a hand through my H/C hair.
"Did I say you could have help?" He said sternly, slapping me. "No..." I mumbled. "But you didn't say I couldn't have help either!" I said, hoping not to get hit again. "Look, it doesn't matter what I said or didn't say. Now," He said, throwing some money and a piece of paper at me like a stripper. "You have an hour to buy these things. You can leave when you put the groceries away," He said.
I read over the list, and twenty dollars was not enough for me to buy everything.
"Make it work!" He shouted, shutting the door to my room behind him. It was as if he could read my mind... I shivered at the thought.
I sighed and started to put the groceries away. Once I finished I walked into the hallway and bumped into Beverly like the clumsy ass I was.
"Heya, Y/N! What's up?" Beverly asked, a smile on her face.
"Well, my uncle told me to buy all this stuff with just twenty dollars," I said as I handed her the list.
"Don't worry, I have an idea..." Beverly said, and she grabbed my hand while running to the drugstore.
Beverly was flirting with the clerk. He was so distracted so I got everything I needed along with a perfume and walked out. "Nice job Beverly," I smiled, and she thanked me. "Yeah, a lot of the guys around here are perverts..." Beverly said, and I nodded in response.
"Noted..."

Beverly and I walked into the apartment building and I thanked her once again before we went inside our own apartments.
"You're lucky you're home in time..." My uncle said, and I kept my head down. "Listen up," He said, gripping my chin. "I'm going to be gone for the week. You're on your own." I nodded and he left.
I was so thankful to finally be on my own.
I went into my bedroom and set my things on my dresser. After I got dressed into some comfier clothes, I went over to my record player and put on my favorite record.
I hummed along to the music as it played, relieved that my uncle was gone for some time.
I just sat there, thinking about my life back in Hawkins. It was so nice. My older brother Billie had recently disappeared and I listened to the little music he created with some of his friends. Even though he and his friends never released any music, I listened to it all the time. I was lucky that I got to listen to it.
I missed Billie.
I shook my head, realizing I was daydreaming and that I had to go to bed.
I went to bed, covering my small frame with my favorite blanket, falling asleep almost immediately.
Today wasn't as bad as usual, but hopefully tomorrow will be better...
_______________
A/N: Hii! I know this chapter isn't very long, or that good for a matter-of-fact. But, the story will get better and the chapters will be longer.
Keep in mind that yes, this is my first fanfiction and yes, it's in the process of editing! It's not too good but hey, it's a lot better than a lot of the fics I see out there nowadays...
But hey, hopefully you stick around for some time! Love you all!
