Chapter One
One and a half years later
Okay. Now all I have to do is leap. Come on. Come o-
"Come on, Sleepyhead!" squeaked a voice.
"I was gonna catch a bird, Red!" Wolf mumbled, annoyed at her little brother.
Raven and Star had had another litter about six months ago. Red was one of that litter.
"Well, now you can actually catch a bird!" Red responded.
"Ugh!" Wolf groaned.
She stalked into the forest, annoyed. She glared at her feet, sheathing, and unsheathing her claws. Stupid Red, first he wakes me up from my sleep and then he makes me go and hunt! Wolf, busy looking at her claws and grumbling to herself, didn't notice where she was going.
"Who are you" a voice growled from out of nowhere.
"Um, I think the question is who are you!"Wolf hissed.
"You are on my territory, I think it more suitable for you to answer first" the voice hissed again, annoyed.
I must have stumbled onto someone else's territory while I was being angry about my incompetent little brother. "I am errr.... Shadow" Wolf stuttered. Ugh! I am a terrible liar!
"Yeah, right, 'Shadow', I have just one little request for you. Here it is: GET OFF OF MY TERRITORY RIGHT NOW!!!
"Happily" Wolf murmured under her breath as she stumbled away.
"Oof!" Wolf's eyes widened as she slammed into another cat.
Great. First I am chased off of some stupid cat's territory and now I slam into another cat.
Looking up she saw that the cat that she had slammed into was a silver tabby tom with long fur and icy blue eyes.
"This is RiverClan territory. Why are you trespassing? I mean I assume you are trespassing because I don't recognize you from-"
"I am trespassing. But jeez! I am not having a good day! I just got chased away from someone else's territory! My brother sat on me to wake me up while I was having a dream about hunting. And, on top of all that I haven't had breakfast and it's nearly sunhigh!" Wolf ranted to the bothersome Clan cat. "So, please, let me go in peace."
"Fine" the tom sighed. "But on one condition, do not come back across the border again. My clanmates will not be nearly as welcoming as I am"
"Ugh! Alright" Wolf said, annoyed, and turned to continue on her hunt.
Crossing the border back into the unclaimed territory outside of RiverClan, Wolf spotted a mangy rat digging through some human trash left behind from summer. The smell of prey, however disgusting, filled her mouth as she dropped down into a crouch instinctively. She silently slipped over the ground, making her way slowly to a blackberry bush filled with the juicy purple fruit. Her starving belly led her to the bush and, as soon as the rat's back was turned, she squeezed under the prickly branches and her back legs unwound as she sprung on top of the rat. Wolf prepared herself for the disgusting taste of rat mange as she snapped its neck with her powerful jaws. She had never been so lucky in a hunt.
She dunked the freshly caught rat's body in a fast flowing stream and allowed the current to wash the twoleg trash out of its fur. The rat, now clean, dripped dry in her jaws as she carried it back to the family's den.
"We meet again." Ugh! It's the silver tabby from before. "If I didn't know better I'd say you were stalking me."
"Shut up."
"Gee. Someone's in a bad mood. But this is my territory so you'd better get off."
"What'd you think I could wash off a mangy rat on my territory?"
"So you don't have streams there."
"We did until your kind came."
"You mean Clan cats?"
"Of course! What d'you think I meant? Silver tabby toms?" Wolf snapped, irritably, immediately regretting it.
"Why yes, of course, you meant silver tabby toms. Have you met a tom as charming as I"
"I have a mate, dumbass. Arranged, yes, but a mate nonetheless"
"Can we maybe start over meeting each other? My name's Froststripe." Froststripe started.
"Wolf," Wolf said.
"I was born in RiverClan, lived here my whole life."
"I was not born in RiverClan and I have traveled around the territory that's not good enough for the Clans my whole life, hunting for myself and my family, fighting battles with the Clans, et cetera," Wolf said, defensively.
Froststripe wouldn't meet her eyes. "It seems like you don't want to get along with me. Maybe we should just leave like we never met before and I can stay loyal to my clan by not befriending a rouge."
"We could always walk away from this and forget it ever happened. However, you have made multiple attempts to introduce yourself to me and it would be rude to refuse your attempts once more," Wolf said, bothering the idiot further.
"No. I will not play this game. You will not cause my opinions to be crushed by my own words. Goodbye." With that, he walked away.
Wolf huffed and stalked back to her own territory, the rat in her mouth.
