"Nope, nope, nope. I'm not going. Not going." Archie exclaimed as he slumped back on his bed in his bedroom of his and Jugheads quaint yet spacious New York loft. The red head had being in constant contemplation over whether to go to Betty's celebration party. While they had being broken up just under a year and they had managed to sort things out and remain just as good of friends that they where before they began dating, it was different now that they're was another guy in the picture. He wanted her to be happy but wanted her to be happy with him. His feelings for her had never faded and if he was being honest he never understood why they broke up himself. He missed her. He saw her a lot of the time but it wasn't the same. He missed her kiss, the feeling of her soft skin below his finger tips, how she ran her fingers along his chest when he was sleeping, how her hair smelt like strawberries and that is just a small amount of what he missed. Archie was taken from his thoughts by the sound of Jugheads voice echoing from up the hall. "I don't care what excuse it is this time. You have to come. You promised Betty and I'm not letting you leave me there alone." Jughead finished staying as he stood in the doorway of Archie's bedroom. He stood there in a simple pair of black suit paints and a dark blue button up shirt with the sleeves slightly rolled up just above the wrist. He had definitely filled out since high school but he was still scrawny compared to Archie. "You don't need me. You have Ronnie." Archie stated as he continued lying on his back while staring at the ceiling. Jughead and Veronica was something that no one saw coming but they fitted together surprisingly well. Better than Betty and jughead did and better than Archie and Veronica did. "Well yes but Ronnie's Ronnie and she will do her usual rounds of being the perfect hostess and when that happens it leaves me with the delirious writers at our office. I wouldn't be demanding so much if I knew Kevin was coming but no one knows yet so I'm taking you whether you want to go or not. Now jump in the shower and throw on a shirt. You look like what my burger plates look like before I lick them clean." He said with a laugh while throwing a white button up shirt in his direction before turning and continuing down the hall. Archie quickly stood up from the bed, walking into his ensuite quickly turning on the shower before turning to face the mirror. He knew it was going to be a long night but he just hoped he could get through it without any trouble for Betty's sake.

It was never a far walk to Betty and Ronnie's apartment. They lived over on park avenue only around three blocks from where Archie and Jughead lived. It was October so autumn hung in the air, it was mainly cold but every now and then you would get that sensation of warmth just from walking in the sun but it couldn't compare to the feeling of walking into the lobby of there apartment complex. As the two approached the elevator this one thought that had being swarming Archie's brain had begun to really bother him. "Is he going to be there tonight?" The red head asked his raven haired best friend as they slid into the lift. "Is who going to be there?" Jughead responded as he began unraveling his scarf from his neck. "You know, that guy that Betty's being spending time with. He works with you guys. The one she's dating." Archie replied as his jaw clenched while he undid the buttons on his trench coat. "Oh you mean Josh. I don't know. Most likely and for the last time, they're not dating." "Sure as hell doesn't seem like that." Archie sharply responded as his grip tightened. "So what if he is there. You guys have being broken up for almost a year and I know you still love her but I figured you'd let that slide and let her be happy." Jughead stated after checking his watch and turning his head in Archie's direction. A long sigh escaped Archie's mouth as he slowly brought his head up before bringing it back to eye level. "I just don't want her getting hurt and I have let it slide." "If so then why did you buy Betty a bouquets of orchids which just happens to be her favourite flower." Jughead questioned with a smirk as he looked from the bouquets that Archie firmly held onto to Archie's eyes. A faint yet evident blush rushed to Archie's cheeks as a small smile formed on his lips. His gaze feel back down to the bouquets in his hands gently turning it as he admired each individual flower. "Because it's Betty and for as long as I've known her whenever something big has happened I've always given her a bouquets of orchids." Archie explained as he smiled just at the thought of Betty. Jughead gently gave his shoulder a light squeeze. The light ding of the elevator indicating that they had reached the right level caught there attention. The doors to the elevator quickly opened revealing the all too familiar large penthouse that Betty and Veronica lived in, only this time it was filled with people. With the money that Veronica had acquired from working with her farther in Lodge industries it was no surprise that she had a place like this and plus it's Veronica if she's going to treat herself to a penthouse she's going to get the best she can find. The pair slowly walked out of the lift, there smart leather boots creating clacking sounds against the hard concrete floor before being met by Veronica at the entrance. "You're late." Veronica exclaimed as she stood before the two of them with her arms crossed over her chest with her gaze fixed on Jughead. "Hey don't blame me, blame him. I practically had to drag him here." Jughead responded with a tone of innocence in his voice. Veronica slowly tuned her head towards Archie giving him a small glare before turning it into a smile. "Oh Andrews." She said with a soft tone before wrapping her arms around the red heads broad shoulders pulling him in for a hug. "Hey where's my hug?" Jughead questioned causing a laugh from both Veronica and Archie before they pulled away and Veronica slid into Jugheads embrace planting a small peck on his lips. "So where's Betty?" The red head questioned the raven haired girl dragging her attention from her boyfriend to her best friend. "Um, she's around somewhere." Veronica stated as her head gazed around the room in search of the golden locks which belonged to her best friend. "Oh, she's right over there." Veronica said with a joyful tone as she pointed behind Archie. The red head quickly turned around giving him a sight that he would never get tired of seeing. The blond walked towards them with the black dress hugging her body in all the right places with a strip that ran down the left side of her dress exposing her silky skin as she took every step, her smile was radiating and her hair was glowing. It was as if time slowed down as Archie watched her. All that he could see was her and he wouldn't want it any other way. He could feel his heart hammering in his chest the closer she got to there general area, it was no lie that Betty took Archies breath away every time he laid eyes on her, everyone knew it. But it was different this time, he hadn't felt this breath taken or nervous since there senior prom in high school. The sudden ringing of Jugheads voice in his ears grabbed his attention as his gazed snapped towards his best friend before turning it back to Betty as she reached the trio. "There she is. The lady of the night. Congratulations Betty." Jughead explained as he opened his arms, inviting her for a hug which she quickly returned along with a wide grin before pulling away from his embrace. "Thanks for coming Jug. I'm so glad you could make it. Maybe you can occupy Veronica so she wont keep freaking out about our rug getting wine spilt on it." Betty responded with a laugh as she exchanged her gaze between the pair. "Hey. I didn't spend all that money on that rug just it could be permanently stained with cabernet." Veronica retaliated with a glare as she flicked it between her best friend and boyfriend. "Don't worry I'll be keeping her distracted." Jughead responded while pressing his lips to the raven girls lips before reluctantly pulling away and muttering what Betty could only guess was something scandalous. Not wanting to ruin there moment the blond quickly turned to the all to familiar red headed standing beside her. "Archibald." "Elizabeth." The two individuals exchanged with all seriousness and cheeky grins as they stared into one an-others eyes knowing full well that they hated when each other called the other by the full name. "Hey, don't full name me." The blond demanded as she pressed a light slap to his chest causing a sheepish grin to form amongst his lips. The lips that formed a grin that still managed to make her swoon. "Well you did it first. If you're going to full name me, you should knowingly expect that i'll do the same to you." The red head replied as he took a step closer towards her, reducing the space between them. She gently titled her head and rolled her eyes at him before giving him that smile that made his breath hitch. "Hey." The two exchanged one after the other as they stood there doing nothing but smiling before the blond broke the stare after noticing the orchids resting firmly in his grip. "Are those for me?" The blond questioned as she flicked her gaze from the flowers to her red headed best friend before raising her eyes brows. "What, these. No they're just an accessory of mine for the night." The red head joked as he held the flowers to his chest while pulling a humorous facial expression. "Oh shut up." The blond responded as she shook her head slightly as small laughs escaped her lips. "Of course there for you. Big moment for Betty Cooper means flowers from Archie Andrews. It's a tradition. You look beautiful by the way." The red head explained as he gently handed the blood the bouquet of flowers. It made Bettys heart raced that even after everything they've being through he still was the same old Archie who she fell in love with. "There beautiful Arch, thank you. You don't scrub up so bad yourself." The blond said with a gentle tone as her facial expression softened before reaching out for him and pulling him into an embrace. She could smell the intoxicating scent of his sea breeze cologne which always made her feel safe and for him the smell of her strawberry shampoo which erased any bad thought that swam in his mind. Neither one of them wanted to let go of the other, though of course neither of them knew thats what the other was thinking. Archie gently began pulling Betty closer to him as his hands which rested gently on her back slid further around her body practically snaking around her upper back. Reluctantly the blond slowly slid out of his embrace never losing the smile that was on her lips. "I'm proud of you. You know I remembered the other day..." The red head began explaining before being interrupted by the last person he wanted to see. Josh. From what Archie had heard he didm't seem that threatening but seeing him in person really shook Archie to his core. Josh was tall, not exactly taller than Archie but he had bright blue eyes, strong build which was definitely bigger than Archie and a smile that seemed to make every girl in the room weak. He could see his hand tightly snaked around Bettys waist, indicating that he was about to whisk her away from him. "Betts. Betts. You have to hear what Mr.Walkman just said. Come on." He explained before flicking his gaze to Archie. "Sorry bro, she'll catch up with you later." Josh explained before walking away with Betty in tow as his hand slid further around her waist. Betty gently turned her head towards Archie and she knew he was bothered. She gently mouthed "I'm sorry" to him while delivering him the softest look before turning her head towards wherever Josh was taking her. Archie knew he had no right to be angry or annoyed but when it came to Betty and especially Betty with another guy, there was no controlling how he felt.
