jeno heard of jaemins death the next day.

he tried to not care. he tried to take this as the opportunity to completely cut jaemin out of his life.

but of course, it didn't work.

jeno had renjun now. so why was he feeling so terrible and guilty for jaemins death ? why was jaemin on his mind so much now that he was gone ?

he kept telling himself.

but he found himself forgetting about renjun, and only thinking about jaemin.

as he always should have.

two months later, jeno arrived at his and renjuns dorm and was shocked at what he saw.

renjun was on the floor of the bathroom, crying, and surrounded in flower petals.

"renjun ? what's wrong ?"

"j-jeno....you still love me..right ?"

he managed to get out.

"of course. why would you think otherwise ?"

jeno said. but then, a certain memory played in his head as soon as he let those words out.

one year ago

FROM : JAEMIN ❤️❤️

do you still love me ?

jeno scoffed.

"as if. i have renjun now, why would i still love you ? ugh. i'll just break up with him later. he can enjoy at least one more day....

TO : JAEMIN ❤️❤️

end of flashback

"oh my...."

jeno covered his mouth and ran out of the room.

he realized what was happening.

he ran all the way to a cherry blossom tree that him and jaemin always used to hang out at together.

he sat under it as the thoughts ran through his head.

first, he remembered the day he found out jaemin died.

jisung had called him and frantically told him to come jaemins room.

that's when he saw him laying lifeless, covered in cherry blossom petals.

cherry blossom petals....

"oh no.."

it all clicked now.

the cause of jaemins death was the hanahaki disease. caused by jeno himself. he already knew that of course.

the hanahaki disease was caused from a one sided love.

he just found renjun in their room surrounded by those same flower petals.

jeno gasped, and tears sprung from his eyes.

renjun has hanahaki

but how ?

jeno still loves him....right ?

wrong.

jaemins death was a wake up call to jeno.

jeno does love jaemin.

he finally realizes it.

he loves jaemin. that's why he can't stop thinking about him after his death recently.

but renjun made him forget his love for jaemin. and now they are here.

so why did jeno do what he did ?

not even jeno knows that.

jeno covers his face with his arms and cries, and cries, and cries.

he's now given two people the hanahaki disease.

one, the one that he has just found love for again is dead.

and the other, the one he no longer loves, is on his way there.

jeno doesn't know what to do. so he just cries. and once all the pieces finally fit together in his head, he says inbetween his sobs,

"nana, i really do love you."

i'm sorry.

then when jaemin left and renjun arrived, renjun was like a replacement of jaemin.

but during that time, renjun made jeno forget his love for jaemin.

resulting is jaemins hanahaki.

then ever since jaemin died, jeno could not stop thinking about him.

he doesn't realize it yet, but he is forgetting his "love" for renjun, and remembering his love for jaemin.

then when he sees that renjun now has hanahaki, he finally understands
everything, and finds his love for jaemin again.

but now, it is too late. and he doesn't know what to do.
