Chapter 1

GRACE'S POV

It's been a few months since the UD outbreak. The moment we figured out that it was an apocalypse Danny and I knew we had to get to the store to prep. As suspected the store had been deserted except for the cashier who had already turned. Daniel had been quick to shoot when it got too close. We stocked up on water bottles. Water purification items. We also got more diapers for Hannah some formula in case the potential lack of food made it harder for me to make my own breast milk. We got some backpacks and duffel bags. After that we went straight to my house and got a bunch of medical supplies. Then we went to our dad's armory and got our weapons. My bow and arrows, Daniel's gun and ammo, and some throwing knives for Levi. We took my truck and went to a gas station to stock up on gas. Once we got there things were already bad. There were already some UD's around the station and a guy who obviously didn't know shit on zombies. I couldn't just stand there so we helped and offered him to come with us. We were headed for Levi's cabin in the mountains. It should be far enough to have a minimum of UDs. The only problem is that it's in Detroit, Michigan and we live in Cincinnati, Ohio. That's far even by plane. So we stocked up on gas. Conner agreed to come with us and was really thankful. We're in Columbus at the moment and we needed to take a break.

" So since we're going to be here a while could I at least know a bit about you guys. " Conner said after we had secured a small gas station.

" Yeah sure." I said. " What would you like to know? "

" Well I'm assuming that you and Daniel are Hannah's parents and that Levi is Daniel's brother. Am I right?"

At that Danny, Levi and I laughed our heads off. After we were done we stared at Conner.

" No. God no. I am not married to Grace. She is my twin sister. I am however married to Levi." Daniel told him his eyes still watering from all the laughing.

" Oh ok. So where's Hannah's dad? Is he going to meet you there? " he asked.

CONNER'S POV

" Oh ok. So where's Hannah's dad? Is he going to meet you there? " I asked.

Then they all changed. Levi had an angry look on his face, while Daniel looked like he was going to murder someone and Grace looked so sad. I immediately regretted asking the question. I felt bad for making Grace feel like that. I wanted to run over to her and give her a hug to make it all better.

" I'm sorry I shouldn't ha-" I started but was cut off by Grace.

" No its ok. It's not your fault. His name is Chase. He left Hannah and I a week before everything went to hell. We were engaged and he had been cheating about a week. I was going to break up with him but he beat me to it and left. " she said. Then I noticed the sadness was gone and replaced with pure hatred. After that an uncomfortable silence followed. I decided to break it.

" Well I was on my way to my ex-wife's house to pick my son up when I stopped for gas. That guy attacked me and you saved me. Thanks again." I said

" Hey. Don't mention it." Levi said.

" but what about your son and ex-wife? Aren't you going to look for them?" Levi continues

" Well that's why I brought it up. They live in Ohio.. I was hoping we could go check out their house to see if they were ok or if they made it out. "

" Sure where do they live? " Daniel asks me.

" They live in Springfield so not far from here." I tell them.

" Alright then. We're going to Springfield." Said Levi.
