"auserie."
auserie looks up at her best friend, bailee.
"hm?"
"i have some exciting news for you!" she claps.
"and that would be..?"
bailee performs a little drum roll on the restaraunt table.
"i got you a date." she states with a grin.
"you what?" auserie blurts out.
bailee knows that auserie absolutely hates when she sets her up with a guy. they never last, and auserie is beyond done with bailee's voluntary match making service.
bailee's smile lessens as she speaks.
"come on aus, this guy is different. i swear."
"i'm just surprised you haven't ran out of guys to set me up with, to be honest." auserie says.
"i am not kidding, this guy will last." bailee declares.
"whatever you say, bailee."
☯ ☯ ☯
before auserie knows it, she is putting on her "nice" clothes for this date. all she knows about this guy is that his name is michael. what a description, right?
apparently they are supposed to meet up at the mall in the center of berkeley, so auserie drives there a quarter till 7 o'clock, when the date starts.
auserie hangs out in american apparel for a little bit before she has to go to urth caffé to meet michael. when she gets to there, she spots a boy with neon green hair, in a red flannel shirt with a sign saying "i'm michael clifford" on it.
auserie mentally facepalms herself at the sight of michael. why did she agree to attend yet another date that will not go well?
she sits down with michael, giving him a little smile.
"i'm michael clifford." the green headed boy says. "if you weren't aware before." he grins.
"auserie grant." she replies flatly.
michael is disappointed at auserie's reply, but he is sure he can make her interested in this date. she was pretty cute, after all.
"so i got us sandwiches; ham, tomatoes and american cheese. i also got you a latte, and a green tea shake for myself. that's okay right?" michael asks.
saying michael is desperate for auserie's approval is an understatement.
"yeah."
"are you a hipster?" michael asks to the girl he just met.
auserie actually laughs, which in michael's mind is a plus.
"what makes you think that i'm a hipster?"
michael smiles.
"dunno, you just look like one. the dark red hair, black shirt with holes, et cetera."
"good point. maybe i am. maybe i take pictures of my food and post them on instagram and twitter. maybe." auserie says with a smile.
auserie is surprising herself with the fact that she is actually enjoying this date, and she hasn't even ate yet.
as if it were on cue, their food comes to them. auserie is always hungry for urth; it is her favorite restaraunt.
"wait." she says before michael can pick up his sandwich. "i have to take a picture of the food."
michael laughs as auserie snaps a picture.
"i knew it! you are a hipster!" he points and jokingly gasps.
auserie is laughing now, maybe a little too hard.
"i will post this on instagram, and i'm tagging you innit." she smiles.
"my username is @michaelgclifford, for future reference." michael states.
"kay, now let's eat!" aus says.
the next hour or so is filled with conversations about love, music and life, which is a lot to cover that amount of time.
"i had a really great time tonight, michael. thank you." auserie says to michael in the parking lot.
"no, thank you for showing up and laughing at my stupid jokes." michael smiles.
"so i don't really do this on the first date, but whatever." auserie says before standing on her tip toes to kiss michael's cheek.
michael's cheek gets hot after auserie's lips leave his face. let's just say that michael was not expecting anything from this date but food.
on the drive home, michael is all that is on auserie's mind. she's going to have to tell bailee that she was in fact, right about michael, that he was different.
before she forgets, auserie posts the picture she took just hours ago.
@auseriegrant: so @michaelgclifford found out that i am hipster earlier ♡
