Kaycee POV
after a long day of just us being together on the beach, James had gotten me and Em to calm down and sit by the fireplace.
"Hey Kaycee, Emily." I looked up at Jay but he didn't seem to want to look at either of us.
"Yeah?" We both quietly replied.
"I have something to tell you." James took in a deep breath. I tried to make out what his face was trying to say, but all I got was a confused look on his face.
"10 years ago," Jay started. Then he looked down at us and sighed, "10 years ago I got you two a present but never had the chance to give it to you. So I decided that why not give it to you guys now." James then stood up and walked towards the car.
James POV
In mid-sentence I decided that I would wait for just a little longer. I didn't want to ruin Kaycee's big day after all. At that moment I remember that I had a DVD in my backpack, which was still in the car.
"I got you two a present but never had the chance to give it to you. So I decided why not give it to you guys now." I knew I was lying since I had only made this last week, but I needed an excuse to not tell them what really happened.
I got up from my seat and headed to the back of my car. Rummaging through my backpack, I finally found the DVD. I turned my head and noticed Emily and Kaycee looking at something. I couldn't tell what it was but from a distance, it looked like an old photo.
Emily POV
"Remember when we use to share a room and whenever we would fight we would tape the room in half." I smiled while looking at my sister.
"Yeah. I remember. Times have changed a lot since then. I'm glad mum and dad would take photos of these kinds of things. It shows how much all of us have grown." Kaycee let out a simple sigh along with a soft smile.
It was so long since I had seen her happy. I was always away from our family and never really there after year 7. I was either at the music school or with grandma. Whenever I had the chance though, I would always come home. Yeah, I did live with gran for most of the time, but that was only since she lived pretty close to the music school. If it wasn't for her, I'd have to travel an hour and a half to just get to the school.
"Hey, guys. What are you two monkeys looking at?" We were greeted by Jay once again, but this time he was holding something.
"Here." He gave us a DVD.
"I'll set up the DVD player so you can watch it." James got up and started to head back inside.
"Wait!" I was curious about what it was since he never told us.
"Yes, little monkey?" He turned back to look at our direction and gave me a questioned look.
"What is it?" I simply asked.
"You'll see. Come on you two let's go inside to watch it." Jay then turned back around and continued walking towards the beach house.
